I have been struggling with the same thing myself. Your living space is almost identical, down to the bulk head, to mine. A black leather sofa set was donated to me when I moved into my condo and I wasnt sure if it was my style or if it looked way too big for the space. I decided budget wouldnt let me get a new set in the near future so I kept an ecclectic decor and painted the walls to suit and I think it's working out quite nicely. If you havent found pieces that you must have I say keep it and work with it. I think you could work it! As for paint colour well that all depends on what feel you want in your livingroom. I painted the bulkhead wall a rich purple and have 4 throw pillows in similar rich colours. I chose a neutral sand colour (the colour in the stitching of the throws) for the rest of the walls to lighten the space up. This warms the space but still keeps it neutral and open. Good luck!
