You can get the same effect by just adjusting the level of the floater. In newer toilets, there is usually a long plastic screw you can turn. On older toilets, you can just bend the bar the floater is attached to. This means the toilet stops filling at a lower volume of water, just as with adding a rock or plastic bottle. The problem with this method is that toilets are designed to flush with a certain volume/pressure of water, so if you reduce the volume of water in the tank, you reduce the pressure available to flush the toilet. There are inexpensive dual-flush conversion kits available that allow you to maintain the appropriate volume and pressure of water, but just use less per flush. Zero Cost Low-Flush Toilet Upgrade |

We at Greenward gave their Cranston, RI store a giant Santa Claus-sized bag of corks that customers turned in for recycling. It's good to see them get another use before going to Cork ReHarvest. Green Style: Earth Day Windows at Anthropologie |

Vinegar and baking soda can be used to clean just about anything, as long as you remember *not* to combine them. That fizz in step 4 is the vinegar and baking soda reacting to make water and CO2, two compounds not known for their super cleaning powers. You may remember this little experiment from elementary school science class "volacanos." So, by all means heat your vinegar in the pan , but then empty it out before adding the baking soda. By adding the baking soda to the vinegar, though, you are just wasting both. How To Clean Burnt Pans With Vinegar and Baking Soda |

Better for GrownUps has recently introduced reusable organic cotton velour rounds just for this purpose. Customers at our store seem pleased with them and several have made a point to come back and say that they really like them. You get 30 in a reusable cardboard dispenser box, as well as an organic cotton mesh bag for washing them. Reusable Alternative to Cotton Balls? Good Question | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

I have found the EcoSMART Weed & Grass Killer to be quite effective. I sprayed it on some grass growing up from the sidewalk in front of our store and it turned brown and withered within about 20 minutes. Also, it actually smells great. It is non-toxic and safe around kids and pets. Are There Any Eco-Friendly Non-Toxic Weed Killers? Good Question | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |
