Saw this in the NYT a couple weeks ago -- such a novel idea! I love it when methods from the molecular gastronomy crowd are easily adaptable in a home kitchen.

@Roberto -- Sous-vide always skeeves me out a little, since you're letting stuff sit in a hot plastic bag for so long. I actually love how this method ensures an evenly pink piece of protein and avoids the plastic-in-hot-water + extra-stuff-to-throw-away set-up that puts me off of sous-vide cooking!

I like those wall-mounted spice racks! Been looking for something similar. Where did you get yours?

My Double Coconut Granola has been my most popular blog post . . . ever. People love it! Melissa's right, coconut oil is awesome in granola.

How's this for chutzpah -- I even gave some to Daniel Humm and Will Guidara at a meet-up a few months ago. When they tried it (and liked it), I almost died.

Was just marveling at this post on Honest Fare this morning! So genius how she glues the layers together w/a "binding sauce" of apples and starch.

Just made a big loaf of gluten-free Russian bread today -- we're going to a Russian-themed pickle party tonight, and the bread is my contribution!

Here's the recipe:

Tatterhood hit the nail on the head here -- a great kitchen for people who don't cook! It just doesn't seem to make any ergonomic sense.

Commonsurfer is right -- $12.99 is not really cheaper than the usual travel mug. It's a cool idea, though! In general, it's nice to see things are being made to adapt to the tops of mason jars. My Hario coffee grinder's base can be replaced with a mason jar, for instance. And then there are those mesh lids for sprouting seeds (http://sproutpeople.org/supply/sprouters/lidset.html), Ball brand plastic lids for turning the jars into tupperwares . . . what's next?

Looks like an Epicurious recipe a friend turned me on to a couple years ago! It's become a staple of my beet-y repertoire =)

I just got the Hario Skerton grinder. It was recommended to me by baristas at Blue Bottle and Four Barrel -- both of them said they use this as their personal grinder at home. Ground my coffee with it for the first time this morning and it worked very well! Oh and by the way, as an added bonus, the bottom jar has a standard mason jar-sized opening. If it happens to break, a regular jam jar makes a fine replacement.

An exploding-ripe Hachiya is a thing of beauty -- I leave them on the counter to ripen until they're dark orange and take on a kind of translucent quality. Eaten with a spoon, they are one of the best Fall-to-Winter desserts I can think of! Like eating persimmon jam.

A classic French yogurt cake, i.e. "gâteau au yaourt," is not too sweet and so simple to make.

Here's a recipe from Clotilde of C&Z -- you can use less sugar than she does if you want!

Those tulip-shaped Weck jars are just so flippin' cute. Used 'em for canning strawberry apricot jam last summer, and I almost can't bear to give them away as presents this holiday season!

I've got a seasonal fruit salad recipe that's great for Thanksgiving. I used honey, but for strict vegans, agave syrup would be a fine substitute!

Sabbath chicken just came out of the oven, and I'm not sure what lies ahead for weekend cooking! Having a friend over for Sunday brunch, and I've got a kuri and a delicata squash. Maybe something squashy for brunch is in order?
