When my husband and I moved into our first home(renting) my MIL wanted to buy us a new sofa to replace our second hand lazy-boy. We had a cat and a 8month old daughter. She paid $25k for a sofa and oversized matching chair(I hated). We have since bought our first home and lugged these very large pieces with us and set them up in our very small living area. We have owned them for 2 years this past October. We now have two kids that jump and climb and eat and pee(once) on them and the sofa is falling apart! I'm ok with it because now I can get a new one sooner. If you have kids go cheap. Should You Splurge or Save on a Sofa? The New York Times |

Both my children (3&17months) have used noise machines since birth, they are great sleepers, and will protest if we forget to turn them on. I was always afrad that they would become dependant on it. My husband and I don't use one, but I always noticed that when we were using a baby monitor I would sleep better with the sound from the baby's room. Do White Noise Machines Work? |
