Another vote for Plugra. I prefer it slightly to Kerrygold, although both are very good!

I'm a big Gwyneth fan, and love both this current cookbook and her previous (My Father's Daughter) one as well. The recipes I've attempted from them have turned out great (I especially love her homemade salad dressings) and I think the balance between exotic ingredients and pantry staples is totally appropriate.
I just don't get all the hate directed toward her, especially by people who clearly have no idea what she's working on these days. To say that she takes no pleasure in eating and views food as the enemy - that simply isn't true, and if you spent 5 minutes paging through one of her cookbooks, you'd know that. She has consistently presented herself not as a chef, but as a busy mom who attempts to make healthy meals for her family, and that resonates with me - and with a lot of other people as well.

I'd definitely buy enough to cover the full guest list, to be on the safe side. I'd maybe weight purchases more toward hard cheeses that have a longer life, just in case you don't go through it all.

I actually think the hammered finish would camouflage fingerprints and water spots - I am a fan of this look!

Absolutely love the Michael Aram flatware...but I wonder how the feel is, with those little "twigs" jutting out here and there?

How funny - Pioneer Woman posted a broccoli cheese casserole today as well, although her version includes velveeta and ritz crackers. I think I prefer this one!

New Orleans here too - just this past week. The food there is absolutely amazing (and plentiful!)

I am probably in the minority here as I actually do like Gwyneth and look forward to her GOOP email every week. That said, I really like her cookbook and have flagged more than a handful of recipes to try out. I haven't had a chance to actually make anything from the book yet, but I look forward to testing out a few soon (hopefully this weekend!). I especially like the recipes that start with a base, which she uses for her kids, but which I'd use for my picky husband, then gives you ideas to dress/spice them up for the adults.

Make a batch of Pea Pesto and use as a condiment - it's delicious and tastes like spring!

LOVE chocolate chess pie. I usually make it with a shortbread crust rather than graham cracker, but I'm sure both are delicious.

I second the recommendation for smitten kitchen's white chocolate brownie recipe. I just made a batch for valentine's day and there were very chewy/"fudgey" (and delicious!).

Oooh, I love these onions - I usually keep some in my pantry for topping salads. They add a nice bit of crunch and more flavor than I get from croutons.
