This is one of the loveliest apartments I've seen here in a long time.
2 quick questions:

(1) Do you have a cat? The top shelf in your sunny bookshelf/closet would make an ideal perch for a cat, & for plants too.
(2) Have you ever put your womb chair either to the left side of the bay window, or to the corner right in front of your entry door (instead of white shelf w/lg clock). The latter would really balance the room too (so upholstery isn't on one side, white shelving on other).
Though neither is ideal for TV-watching, either would make it much more visible - as it deserves to be!
What a great place to come home to. Thank you so much for sharing!

I like the previous ideas on using canned goods (food pantry) & taking into account the students' ethnicities. I would strongly suggest asking THEM what they like to eat. You could come in with the best ideas of what you think they should eat, but if a dish isn't something they'd normally eat -- or even want to eat -- it's a waste of time. Ask them not only what they like to eat, but also what they WOULD like to eat if they had more money, or if they knew how to cook. Ask them if they prefer to cook something new every day or cooking 1-2x/wk & freezing leftovers. Ask them what kinds of fast/pre-packaged foods they normally eat (then think of homemade versions of those). Ask them what they grew up eating, what their female (& male!) relatives would cook for them. If they're not too responsive at first, ask then answer the questions yourself.
It may take a little patience on your part to draw out these answers, but their replies will inspire you, as well as maybe get the other students to think about food in new ways.

Good luck to you!

Sorry, I think this belongs in Dwell (see kid's room furnishings). 3500 sf is beyond Small Space, even beyond McMansion size. Plus this has a Designer? I love this site because of its commitment to small(er) spaces that were put together by the residents. And I agree with comments that there's nothing personal about this space. The CB2 catalogs have more zing. I've seen many, many spaces on AT that I'm not a fan of (but MORE that I love), & I've never wanted to comment on anyone's style because, you know, different strokes ... I wouldn't even care if this impersonal decorating was in a 1000 sf home. But 3500 sf is just way off base, I think, for this site.

Question: where did you get those beautiful little 'block' prints in your kitchen (pic 17, on shelf, next to plates)?

Is that a figurine of Carlton Fisk on your desk surface (the 'OfficeFlatFileTop' pic)? If so, where did you get it -- or did you make it?
