I put chains on our front and side doors, that are up near the top of the door frame. Found the toddler one time dragging a chair over to see if he could get himself up high enough to undo it.

I had custom sized plexiglass panels cut at a plastics shop for the two windows that were an issue, and attached them to the window frames.

Lovely! I love the pictures over the bed. Can't do it here though. In California it's not advisable to have frames with glass in them hanging over the bed.

First off, you guys, it's what Gael Gallery said. This is an Ohdeedoh/Family post, and if you are not interested you don't have to read it.

My 4 year old son has a May birthday, and I admit I have been considering redshirting him for Kindergarten. However, the reason I have thought about doing this is not to give him a competitive advantage academically or for sports, but for social readiness, because like me, he is on the shy/slow to warm up side and has sensitivity issues. And frankly, I'd like him to have another year in a non-academic environment so that he can just, you know, be a kid, and fingerpaint and play in the sandbox and pet the class guinea pig.

Even so, his preschool class will have homework worksheets this year. Homework in preschool! And this is a play-based preschool! Yeesh.

I agree with others, there's a wide range of pinks out there besides the dreaded Barbie pink. I also like the pink/brown combo you see a lot these days.

An interesting and different take on a South Pas Craftsman, and I love the marlin.

My one problem with it, though, is the mirror over the bed in the master bedroom. That's a big no-no in any earthquake-prone area.

Anybody who furnishes with books has my love immediately.. but what I really love about this home is that it shines with the personalities and interests of its family. Not just great looking rooms designed as set pieces, but great looking rooms that people use to live in.

Oh, I'm only over in Glendale. Can I come visit you? And steal your stuff?

Oh, and I wear perfumes - I have a variety. My 3-1/2 year old son likes to open all the bottles and smell them!

Are Kids & Fragrances Incompatible?

To add to zwizh's suggestion - one of the best smells I ever smelled was lemon slices candying in boiling Karo syrup, and at the end, you have candied lemon slices. Bake bread, or chocolate chip cookies, or pumpkin pie! Make mulled wine!

That being said, the newborn-fragrance free recommendation is because scent chemicals in baby products that you put on their skin (lotions, diaper creams, baby shampoos. etc.) can be irritating to that delicate newborn skin. It doesn't mean you have to ban scent from your home all together.

Kids get exposed to plenty of smells - it would be a shame for them to miss out on experiencing and learning about the good smells you love, especially ones with family and holiday associations that they will always remember.

And yes, I know lots of people are very sensitive to scents of any kind! I'm not saying to go crazy and lay it on too thick, but you don't have to live scent-free either once your kids are past the baby stage.

The bed is the notNeutral BB2 twin bed. They're not making them right now, but there may be some still here and there at retailers on the web. Write notNeutral and tell them you want them, and maybe they'll get back to it!

Browned butter, yum! My all time favorite though, is candying lemons - lemon slices simmering in Karo or sugar syrup. Incredible!
