hi @midvale person the total ceiling height is 12 feet. the loft is probably about 5' tall, the kitchen ceiling about 7'. it's workable, and in this case, gives us so much more room. i would say that if you have the choice, being able to stand up straight in the morning is a nice thing. @greenwoodgal at only 60 inches wide, this couch is about as small as we could find. it's the elton settee from west elm {http://bit.ly/HQ3VsA} and it has a really slim profile, which makes access to the closet not so bad after all! as for an ottoman--boy, oh, boy do we wish there was room! alas, mobility is pretty limited as it is. we can't imagine adding another thing to that tiny space! @JEN realized that perhaps you're referring to the curtain over the closet! a blue would be lovely (though we don't mind the flax). maybe if we win... Erin & James' Easy to Live In Small Cool Contest |

@JEN suggestion noted--and good eye, the curtain's barely visible in these shots! a little more about the curtain: we try to be thrifty. the curtain is actually an organic linen shower curtain that we repurposed for this tiny space. we're happy as clams with how it turned out and we think the soft ivory warms up the place a bit. as for the length, we had to be sure that the curtain didn't drape over the radiator that sits under the length of the window. don't want to burn the place down after all! @PESTLE hilariously, we found it on the sidewalk the day we moved in. no joke. our old table would have blocked the door, so we were stoked to find it. Erin & James' Easy to Live In Small Cool Contest |

i couldn't agree more. ordinary collections are some of the very best kind. my favorite spots to display little collections are windowsills, though lately i've taken to stringing my collections up on the walls--instant color and texture!
