i start from the bottom, tearing off one piece at a time and i "dip" each piece into the frosting. then there's just enough frosting left on top for me to enjoy with the upper half of the cupcake. i haven't tried making this, mostly because i think i'm allergic to it! i'm allergic to alcohol (sad, i know) and i have the same reaction to kombucha as i do to booze (shortness of breath, hot-feeling head, crappiness in general). that fermented stuff is no joke! chicken broth is a must -- but instead of those bulky boxes, i like using the shelf stable broth concentrate sticks from savory creations (http://www.savory-creations.com/products/retail.html). they save so much space, not to mention that the flavor has so much depth.. i do the dishtowel thing that onewallkitchen does. i'm not as religious about cleaning the mushrooms that come packed, but i always always always wash the ones that are in those bulk, self-serve bins...
