When haggling, I decide what the highest price I am willing to pay, and then after some negotiations I'll tell the seller that is all I have. But, make sure you have that exact amount, don't tell a seller you only have $30, and then pull out a $50 to pay with. This has always worked well when haggling in the Caribbean Islands. I remember a few times doing this, and then walking away and having the merchant chase after me, saying they'd sell for that price.

The Today Show had $20 basket ideas on their show yesterday (Thursday). I think only 2 of them had candy in them. One had sour worms in a gardening basket, and the other was Swedish fish in a beach bucket basket.

@LaBelle The pajamas are official Taylor Swift merchandise. They are all sold out of them in her online store, but they are on ebay.

One of the museums I go to has something like this in their restrooms. When you put your hands under the sensor, it gives you some water, then some soap, then more water and finally air blows out to dry your hands. Its kind of cool, and it gives you enough time in between each step to properly wash your hands.

So disappointing! Kansas isn't that much closer then Chicago, and honestly I'd rather do a weekend in Chicago then KC. Hopefully St. Louis will get one soon. Although The Kansas City one won't be opening for another 2 years, so I doubt I'll still be living here in 5 years when another Ikea opens...

@erennich we do the same thing. We also don't have a dishwasher, and used to hand dry them with a towel, but have since gotten lazy. They get stacked all kinds of ways on top of our counter. Usually we'll put a towel underneath, although sometimes we don't. They've always dried fine, no fun smells, or anything.

These have been at my local Target for at least a month now. Not sure where you got the Fall 2012 date, but they've been out for most of the summer.

They are plastic, and the bottles are all shaped like the other products Method sells. They're also the same price as the other products. I would have thought they were a little more, but the dish soap, hand soap, and all purpose spray were all $2.99.

They're also available online at methodhome.com. They are 3.99 (+ shipping).

@Rural and rueful the man room reminded me of one of my friends. She had posted pictures on Facebook of the new house her and her boyfriend had just rented. Going through the slideshow, all the rooms were tastefully decorated, with nice furniture, art work, etc. Then you got to her boyfriend's "man room." It was a cheap futon couch, and equally cheap desk (peeling plywood monstrosity from the 90s), a cheap wire shelving unit lined with action figures, with the walls covered in video game posters. I'm sure there was some arguing as she tried to keep that stuff out of the house, but finally gave in and gave him the second bedroom to have as his "man room."

Can't say I have too many of any of these things. Sheets? Two sets for the summer and one flannel set for the winter. Vases? I have one. Tupperware? Enough to keep the cut veggies and opened canned food in. Office Supplies? I can never find a pen in the house. Frilly soap? None at all...

@L_Doug we already broke 100 Degrees last weekend! Of course now we got a nice cool front and its been in the 70s and isn't supposed to get higher then mid 80s the next two weeks!

Will definitely be trying some of these tips out once it gets back up into the 90s. I hate sleeping with the A/C on. I feel like I'm just wasting money since the temp really doesn't make a difference while I'm sleeping. My childhood room was in a part of the house with poor installation, and my parents never even bothered to buy me a fan (I was one of those money conscious kids, so never asked for one). I'm used to the hot temperatures, but my boyfriend goes crazy once it gets into the 90s outside. I think I'll save a few 2 litters for him to fill with ice.

@SteveThreePO I try to tell my boyfriend the exact same thing. Our city water has been voted cleanest, and best tasting numerous times, so I never see the harm in drinking the tap water. Besides, we fill up our ice cube trays with tap water so its seems a little pointless to fill up a glass of unfiltered ice cubes with filtered water.

@hinmelb There are many times where kids have a bathroom that is considered theres. It could be a house that has the master bedroom on the first floor, with the kids rooms on the second. The bathroom upstairs then would be the kids bathroom. Or they could be jack and jill bathrooms. My sister has 2 full sized bathrooms upstairs (one off the hallway and a master bath) and a half bath downstairs for guests, so the second upstairs one is considered my nephew's bathroom.

@JuliannTrott When I was in San Francisco the BART website had pictures you could download onto your phone that included maps of the system, as well as a time table. It was so helpful having those pictures on my phone. The timetable especially, since I could look it up before getting to the station, and seeing that we either had to hustle to make our train, or we just missed it and had time to stop somewhere else first.

I have two photo collage walls in my apartment. One has about 20 frames and the other only 10. I eventually would love for the larger one to look like this.

I got my picture frames at Target. They sell picture frame sets of 10 for about $20. I actually got my 3 sets during a sale where they were only $12. I have black frames, but I love how the white frames blend into the wall, and make you focus more on the picture.

@SherrybinNH and @Alhal You mean these parents actually make their kids pick up their rooms? The horrors! Of course they are going to have the rooms cleaned before photographing them, just the same as you probably clean your home before having company over. I am sure there are plenty of times when the beds are unmade and toys are all over the place, but that isn't what this post is about.

@Molly80 But do you just throw it away? That is what it seemed like most comments were confused about, who just throws away a vase? I can totally understand not wanting to keep a bunch of vases, but to just throw away a perfectly good vase just because you don't want it sounds so wasteful. Gift someone else some flowers, or even just the vase so they can use it to do some of these suggestions.
