What a beautiful mirror! Worth the price for something locally sourced and produced. I'd love one for my new house! :)

Similar to many of the commenters, I too just moved to Seattle (last week!). I am glad to know that there is hope on the horizon in terms of making friends. I love the tips and will be actively using them in my future friend pursuits. :)

And, I agree with the commenter above me... a Seattle Apartment Therapy/Design Interested People meet up would be so fun!

Congratulations on your engagement! I too recently became engaged. Isn't it exciting!

I agree with all of your tips. One thing that I especially like to do is to put a fan in the window to get a good cross breeze going through the house. The worst is being in a room that feels stuffy and full of illness.

I have one question for you... Do you know where the blue striped sheets are from that are on the bed in the picture? My new fiance is moving into my apartment in a few weeks and I know he would love that bedding!

I would want to live in the beach house from "Somethings got to Give". It is beautifully bright and well decorated. http://www.architecturaldigest.com/homes/spaces/2007/07/somethingsgottagive_article

I am in love with the furniture in your living room! The turquoise couch, the orange stool, and the absolutely breath-taking rug! LOVE! Where is the rug from? As a fellow Small Cool Contestant (Ellie's Carriage House), I would love to add a rug to my living room and I think yours in amazing.

Thank you all for your kind comments! It is encouraging to hear all of the lovely thoughts about my curtained closet!

Living in this house has been a test in finding creative and extremely affordable solutions to a lack of space situation. Living in Aspen has so many amazing perks, but it also means living in a teeny-tiny budget. My budget has meant furnishing and decorating my apartment with begged, borrowed or donated items. For example, my couch came from a previous tenet and the brown shelves are borrowed from my boss! (they actually are made to be vertical, but did not fit in the space, so horizontal they went…) Another way I found I could add décor on a budget is to use interesting table cloths as curtains! They are not perfect, but they are changeable, serve their purpose well, and add more color, which I love!

I hope that my little space is encouraging to see what you can do with very little money and a lot of creative thinking. Thank you all for noticing the effort and care put into making this small carriage house a home.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments, they are very encouraging!

@Greener on the other side - yes, those are wine bottles! The rack was a feature installed by a previous tenant. I did not know if I would keep it, but now I secretly love it!

@Pamela L & @Raaina - The pillows are from either Lowes, Target, or Pier 1... all purchased on sale due to my teeny-tiny budget for my teeny-tiny space!

@azaleasmoke - The chairs were purchased at a wholesale design warehouse in Dallas that is no longer in business... sorry!

@kakers - Of course! 4th summer in a row. I will clear out some drawers for you. ;)

@AES0213 - The light over the kitchen table is from Lowes. It was only $19!

@ Olivia the piglet - Chicago soon for sure!

I absolutely LOVE this little house. I recently moved into a small carriage house that was built in 1920's but was used as storage space until a few years ago. my space is seriously lacking the lovely details and built-ins that your beautiful home has. Thank you for sharing your lovely space and providing more inspiration for how to make a small space beautiful.

Thank you for posting about this. I think that the sphere is a great alternative for people who can not have pets in their apartments. It is nice to have another living thing in a space if you are living by your self. I have always leaned towards having a beta fish, but I think the sphere would be interesting as well. I remember in middle school that my biology teacher had a GIANT one on her desk and it was absolutely fascinating.

Hi Beth,

I am sorry that i missed the voting period, because i think your place is amazing and quite inspiring. I am currently in the middle of moving into a tiny cottage which is very similar to yours (except that mine doesn't have a single closet!). I was wondering where you got the wonderful white cabnet piece with the glass doors that is in your living room as well as the great mirrored bar? Also, where do you eat? I am trying to determine if it is necessary to allocate quite a bit of space to a kitchen table or not. Thanks for sharing your lovely space.
Ellie
