I love Yankee candles too! My mother always would get them cheap from where she worked and always had bags and bags of the tarts and samplers. Butter cream and Meyer Lemon are my favorites. I recently got Buttermilk Pancakes and it smelled amazing, but it is no longer available. :(

I love the look of the cage lighting!

I have quite a few bowls like that and I keep seeing them at my local thrift shops. I guess I should keep collecting them.

My old apartment was covered in ivy and that was part of its charm and why I moved in. The people that owned it decided that they were going to fix it all up and replace all the windows, so down came the ivy. Lots of the grout between the bricks was pulled out with it and there was a lot to repair in the end.

I was glad to have new windows and regrouted walls, but I missed the ivy.

So much good advice! When I moved in with my roommate we both knew we wanted to paint everything. We picked out colors for every room and went to town before we put too many large pieces of furniture in it. It made a great deal of difference to the feel of the apartment and it helped to showcase some of the nice molding in our place. We didn't know how long we would be there but ended up staying for 3 years so it was totally worth it. I wish my new apartment would let us paint because I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Also, another vote for changing the showerhead. It is a wonderful thing to have!

When i was teaching in Japan my apartment had a washitsu room. I slept in it when I first got there and it was quite comfortable. Sadly the room had no windows so I ended up usually sleeping in another room with a hardwood floor and my back often hurt, but at least I could get a nice breeze in my room.
As far as cleaning went, I just vacuumed it.

Definitely the beach! When I was growing up we went to the beach once a week or more in the summers. I need the noise of crashing waves and seagulls!

Thank goodness for this post! I am in the same boat and in Philly as well. I will definitely look at some of these places. As of now I was probably just going to hit up Ikea, but I think I will spend more time and effort on my search.

I was also thinking maybe one of the Jomar stores in Philadelphia would be good to check. I know they can be hit or miss, but it is always fun to see what they have in rugs and fabrics.
