We have my grandmother's piano arriving tomorrow and really don't know how we're going to accommodate it... especially with 31 people coming for Christmas dinner!

It looks kind of fun - I've certainly been curious about some of those items - but it also looks like a lot more packaging and plastic in a landfill for something you don't really need. The whole point of white elephant exchanges is that you don't have to buy anything, isn't it?

I find a change of venue does wonders when I'm in a rut - even to dining room table or couch, from my home office, makes a difference. And I get the most done when I give myself the treat of a day working out of a coffee shop.

Starting with a clean room helps, although there is the slippery slope problem there - a little tidying turns into a morning of cleaning and no work done!

Ditto what Robizzle said about the RSS dupes. Makes me crazy, and reveals the extent of my addiction to this site that I just sigh and tolerate it.

On the S.O. topic, I mostly get to be the decider because I have more time to put into researching, but I don't do anything my husband hates, and we do discuss almost everything. I'm new to this design world, though, so my ideas are still pretty malleable, and I'm not particularly invested in being the design-y one in the relationship.

Wood floors - our painter (he's a great painter) mentioned he does them. I have never seen his floor work, but he is really good at matching finishes on walls (our house is Spanish style with plaster walls, and there were a lot of patchy parts where people had done work and done a bad job of plastering over it and he fixed them all seamlessly) so I'd guess he's similarly exacting with his floors. His name is Gilberto and his number is (818) 219-9473.

This is very timely, as just a few nights ago I realized that of all my interior design inspirational clippings, only a very few have any books in them. Don't these people read?! I, for one, would welcome a feature on how to integrate (a lot of) books into a beautiful and balanced room, short of making a dedicated library or arranging by spine color (my organizational system just can't get on board with that).

I love a good upcake.

For me, pasta dough and whipped cream are the most frequent usages. And mashed potatoes. Oh, I love my kitchen-aid.

I thought we were the only ones with that problem! We didn't even notice it until we moved in - I mean, who thinks to check on that kind of thing when you're choosing an apartment?! Our solution was a spring-mount shower rod and one of the thick Ikea linen curtains with the big grommets on the top. We have also, however, made greater use of the guest bath (which does have a door), to address the aforementioned odor and sound concerns.

What about Craigslist? There are always people looking for free boxes for moving - it's a lot more environmentally sound than recycling, even!

After scrolling through the comments, I am most emphatically in the holiday spirit, and jonesing to download everyone else's suggestions for a bombastic Christmas mix. That's what I'd be playing on my new red magic box.

I know it sounds like a cop-out, but I'm 100% serious. Thanks for the inspiration.
