Good April Fools joke. Though I didn't know it was Falling Waters until the end, I kept thinking as I clicked through, "This is very Frank Lloyd Wright-ish." lol

I have a bit of a brick "planter" in my home. This may not be your tastes, but in my case, the brick is painted white and filled with rocks and pebbles. Ideally, I wouldn't have it there, but it's a rental, so I can't change it. The white brick and rocks at least make it look clean. In theory, I could put some little air plants or succulents to grow, though I haven't done so (yet). I like the idea mentioned elsewhere of umbrellas. Perhaps you can buy several colorful umbrellas to dress it up a bit--make the umbrellas your art. :)

I love all of the images above. I just moved into a home that has original 1951 pink tile in the bathroom, which is in good shape. I'm a single guy and was a little intimidated by the pink. But in the short time I've been here, I've grown to love it. I'm thinking of hanging a print (if I can find one) that says "Real Men Love Pink". ;)

The current fabric is pretty, but if they were my chairs, I'd opt for new upholstery also. I'm not an expert on fabric (I can't tell a cotton from a tweed, etc.). BUT . . . I did get a couple of mid-century chairs myself last year and had them reupholstered. Here's what worked for me . . . after trial and error and asking around, I found a very good local upholstery fabric store with a huge assortment. (I'm in Miami.) Then I spent hours looking through their fabrics. I finally found what I wanted, based on the touch and feel, expected durability and color. I then bought enough fabric and took it the person who did the reupholstering for me. So basically, I just looked though hundreds of options and just picked what looked and felt right. The chairs came out lovely. I'd post a photo, but I don't know how. hehe

Everyone has their own style, and I am no design expert, BUT . . . my choice would be to mix and match chairs, perhaps with some colors, perhaps some older or wood with modern--orange or blue (or both). I know this style might not be for everyone. I've mixed up some of the grey and blue chairs from CB2, viewable here: http://www.cb2.com/dining-chairs-barstools/furniture/1 , along with some old schoolhouse chairs. Most important: go with what you love. :) Have fun designing your new home!

I bought a walnut dining table from Etsy seller Hedgehouse (not the exact table pictured above, but similar). I love it. They make your table after you order it, and the craftsmanship is beautiful.

I arranged for some CL movers to move a sofa for me, and they didn't show up. I had to scramble to find another (more reputable) company. I suppose there are good ones out there on CL, but my one experience was not good.

Very cool. I look forward to these posts. I have wondered about AT house tour photoshoot lighting, if the photographers specially light the rooms, or if it's all natural light, and if it is all natural, is there a better time in the day to snap the photos?

I've been robbed 3 times. It's not a fun experience to come home to a ransacked house, then have to deal with a broken window or broken door. Neither time did the crooks take anything of value, but it's a huge stress and annoyance. Once the burglar cut himself on the window glass, and guess who had to clean up the blood? Hint: Not the police. Also, my cat did escape through the broken window, and it took me days to find him again. So . . . basically, I very much like the idea of keeping thieves out of my place (and thus I appreciate this post). :)

People often sell pieces like this on Etsy, Ebay and/or Craigslist. I suggest you look around on those sites for similar pieces for price ideas. If you are willing to ship it to someone, you can auction it on Ebay (Set a minimum reserve price, then sell it to the highest bidder.) Buyers typically pay shipping costs as well. Of course, as a potential buyer, I'd rather you not do all of that and just sell it for a nice low price. : )

My town lists weekend yard sales on the city's web site. (No it's not the city of Miami, it's a town in the Miami area.) This may not be common, but you might want to check your town's web site. In my town you have to have a permit to hold a yard sale. So every weekend there's at least half a dozen listed on the site.

Craigslist also sometimes lists upcoming yard sales or estate sales.

Anita83, here are some ideas for you: Try posting things for sale on craigslist. I've bought several items on craigslist. Or, if you have a lot of vintage or handmade or decorative items, open a little shop on Etsy. Or try Ebay.
