I love, love, LOVE this store. The owner was very friendly and helpful when I was looking for a birthday gift for a guy who "has it all." I ended up buying a great clip light for his grill.

As someone who is also looking to move out of the country for a time - your comments are very useful. We are planning a scoping meeting in December to determine which neighborhood we prefer, but would be unlikely to check out specific apartments... So thanks for mentioning concerns like hot water and street noise...

my guest room smells like burnt rubber... you know, the smell you sometimes get from an old vacuum cleaner? But there is nothing of the kind in the room... what could be causing the smell?

Thanks for your help!

FYI - I registered for two of the glass chip and dips, and on first (gentle) use, both of the pieces cracked.

Yup, I prefer the two apartments that have more furniture and a lived in feel - Lincoln and Zak is nice, and I really like the art over Megan's sofa.

I was thinking a solid color of m&ms? jelly beans? But I hadn't thought about the pests-aspect... hmmm.

I have this really unique granite, that I love. It adds a lot of drama to the room and doesn't show mess...

I would have really loved marble - to age and add character, but my husband was against anything that shows stains.

I'm not familiar with that block of DC, and I love the choice of location and home for the house tour. Thanks also for the link to Random Harvest - one of my favorite stores!

Our bikes were stored in the living room but moved to the study when we put up the Christmas tree in December. It's not easy to move them from there so we don't use them as often as we would like.

The Cap Hill store is slated to open mid-May. But they keep pushing the opening off, so take that with a grain or palmful of salt. I do walk by regularly on morning dog walks, and I have seen the deli counter installed, so I know it's coming...

I am really looking forward to having more grocery shopping options on Capitol Hill.

I remember Ruff and Ready. I know pictures would not help advertise that store. But the treasure hunting was good. Haven't been back since I was living in a group home... Hmmm, may need to go shopping this weekend.

Ditto. I much prefer Powers. Solidified that decision at a whiskey tasting outside of Cork on our honeymoon.

Everything is showing (except the toilet cleaner- under the sink). We have his-and-hers open shelves on the wall opposite the sink and keep everything out for convenience.

I love this bathroom and am keeping this photo for design inspiration. The only downside I see to this design is all that grout by the bathtub - that is a lot to keep clean!

Currently we do not have art in the bathrooms we shower in because I was afraid of the moisture... we don't have great ventilation...

I agree that you need a larger rug. I like the rug that is there for style, but it seems to small... Can you buy the same rug and line them next to one another? Or, you could buy Flor carpet tiles to create a border for the rug to make it bigger...

I like the CB2 coffee table suggested above.
