I often do a breakfast casserole (with egg, cheese, and chicken or pork sausage) which freezes well (I leave instructions). I also do it in an aluminum pan so the new parents don't have to stress about what dish belongs to whom! It's great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and since those meals frequently run together in those first few weeks, they often love it! The New Baby Taco Box |

Melissa (co-hostess) here. Meghan premade all of the gingerbread houses and I think that made a huge difference. We also printed out a lot of inspiration pictures from the web to help the kids get started. They worked really hard on them. Now they are a year older so we'll see this weekend how it all works out! I love this! I am getting ready to do something similar on my steps (a new stairwell in our newly renovated house in Arlington). Thanks for the inspiration! Sarah's Stairway GalleryFlickr Find | Apartment Therapy DC |

We generally have a yard sale every year to unload the stuff that we don't want including housewares, furniture, and clothes (adults and kids). We generally sell about 80% of what we put out because of deeply discounted prices towards the end of the morning. At the end of the sale, we load everything into the car and take it to Goodwill or another charity. We like to put the money from our yard sale towards a big purchase which makes the hard work seem more worthwhile! Works out well for us. How Do You Discard Your Goods? I think it's interesting to look at but I wouldn't necessarily want to live next door or behind it and look at it all the time. Kind of like a piece of modern art that you like in the museum but not over your own fireplace. Some of it depends on whether the houses in the neighborhood are a mix of old houses and tear-downs/modern houses. If that's the case, then definitely go for the mix. If not, then stick with a traditional exterior even though the style does not necessarily have to stay traditional on the inside - vaulted ceilings, open spaces, etc. We're working on blending our new addition with our 70 year old house, but we chose the house first so we wanted to stick with the traditional style that we still love. www.houseography.net Embracing Modern Style While Respecting the Past | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

Super cute! I love the great mix of vintage with modern. It looks so fresh and each piece doesn't scream "I'm an antique!" Rebecca's Vintage Brownstone Green Tour | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

I have to say that I am totally OVER designer show houses. I generally end up leaving thinking the house thinking that it was one of the most bizarre unliveable spaces I have ever been in. The DC show house is not much better - even the kitchens are usually completely strange! Who would really want mirrored tile over the cook top??? But, I guess the idea is to think out of the box and not think practically. Maybe that's why I'm not a pro! 34th Annual Decorators' Show House Baltimore | Apartment Therapy DC |
