I agree with chieromancer, embrace them! Once the other wall comes out you will have a lovely view of the livingroom from those windows, so if you have a living room to be proud of, they may not be so bad. Personally I don't like valances - I'd put up horizontal blinds that you could leave open most of the time, then close in case you wanted to create a more intimate atmosphere (candle lit dinner, for example). There's very brief instructions in Dutch for each of these projects. Should anyone need them in English send me an email (anneloesDOTsaarloosATgmailDOTcom) and I'll happily translate them. Just saying :) Dutch Bedroom DIY Inspiration 101 Woonideeen |

I don't have kids, but I do have 3 cats. Personally I refuse to decorate my house around them even if that means I have to clean white cathair off our black fabric headboard every other day. Especially since this is a sofa, which does so much in terms of adding to the style and atmosphere of one of the most important rooms in the house, I would say go with what you really want and deal with whatever the kids and the cats throw at it later. It sounds like you really want a blue fabric, so go for it! I think it is absolutely gorgeous and since your dining room is also blue it's obviously a color that you're really drawn to. Doing the chairs in a grey tone would also be beautiful. It doesn't matter what the design world is dictating, it matters what you love and I would not compromise on color for the sake of practicality lest you end up bored with what is otherwise an amazing sofa. As far as fabric type goes, I'd probably try to find something similar to the velvety fabric in the picture rather than leather. So much more luxurious! Thirding the rug. Personally I'd go for red accessories rather than orange, because orange is close to brown and the natural wood also already has orange undertones, so I'd be worried that the overal picture would be a little bland. Plus I love the way that red vase pops out in the background. But it would probably only work for accents, so as part of the rug and for knick-knacks in your tv cabinet. I don't think it would work on a wall plus I guess for most people red is not a calming color. Ideas For Adding Color to Brown Living Room? Good Questions |

€4500 for a cabinet that will end up as firewood in my backyard after 3 hours of trying to get the drawers to line up properly seems a bit outrageous. OOOMS' Rebellious Cabinet: When One Door Closes… |

It looks unfinished to me, too. And I hate those hole pulls. My parents used to have one wall covered with a Lundia shelving system and the drawers and cabinets had hole pulls, too. This brings back memories of their dowdy 70s interior. I think it's a bit of a waste, since the original cabinet was gorgeous. Salvaged Sewing Cabinet Transformed Into MidC Storage |

@Username26: I kind of agree with anusha73 in the sense that this is clearly not perfectly executed, which detracts from the overall effect. It doens't look too bad in the pictures, but having wrinkly wallpaper like that would drive me crazy, too. The door in the last picture, especially, looks like the wallpaper is ready to fall off the first time someone slams it shut in a fit of rage, which in a house with so much visual madness coming at you from every angle seems a likely scenario ;) Drenched in Color: A Brave & Joyful Rental Transformation New York Magazine |

Oh and I disagree with many of the readers above that the navigation is not intuitive. I find it makes much more sense now, and don't see a problem with a bit of overlap where one post fits more than one category. This is to be expected. A post about keeping pets in small apartments would obviously fall under Small Spaces and Pets at Home. Welcome to Apartment Therapy 3.0! |

It looks fantastic, and I love being able to go to one website and read it all! I'm also thrilled that you guys will be expanding your coverage to include Europe (start with Holland! Please?). And big kudos that you've managed to incorporate all these major changes with minimal down-time. Yesterdag things were a bit slow and there were a few times when the site would not load, but I thought your servers were just overheating from too much traffic and didn't give it much thought until the new layout popped up. Well done! Welcome to Apartment Therapy 3.0! |

Works for a photo spread, but I wouldn't last a day in a house like that. Maybe it's my latent autism, but I don't think I'd ever get anything done in a space that offers so much VISUAL INPUT OMG IT'S EVERYWHERE. Drenched in Color: A Brave & Joyful Rental Transformation New York Magazine |

In Europe, duvets are traditionally used almost everywhere but I don't think there is a "rule" for whether they are two single duvets or one big two-person duvet. That's just a matter of taste. I always use one big one, because cuddling up to your bedpartner is a hassle when you have two single duvets. You both end up fighting the gap between the two. The downside of a big one, of course, is that someone inevitably hogs it for him or herself :P Under the Covers: A Different Look for the Duvet |

@ Elaine: The livingroom is u-shaped, with the hall containing the stairs sitting in the middle. The first floor is about 400 square feet, the entire house is about 1200 square feet. Anna's Neat & Neutral House Call | Apartment Therapy Boston |
