That room divider really is quite cool. I'd love to know where it's from!

This post makes me terrified. I'm going from washer/dryer in-unit to communal washers/dryers on the 1st floor of an apartment building (I'm moving cities, where in-unit is not very common).

I've forgotten how crappy it was to using communal coin laundry.

I like using tapioca starch. It performs very similarly.

Ugh, I would've said sorry, I didn't make enough food for 12, and because you didn't respond, you can either stay and not eat, or leave.

If you don't have the courtesy to RSVP, I don't have the courtesy of being polite.

Thanks to Netflix, I watched every season of Lost in just 2 weeks. It was so good, I started choosing Lost over hanging out with friends, hah.

I'd totally add Walking Dead (seasons 1 and 2) and Breaking Bad (seasons 1-4) on Netflix streaming, as well.

@krissydiggs As a non-Missouri resident who has spent extensive time in both STL and KC (I went to Mizzou and had lots of friends from both cities), I can say, without bias, that St. Louis is honestly the better place to visit. It has more cultural activities, and simply more things to do. The food is often more unique as well. Kansas City is a much hipper, newer town, and although I would ultimately prefer to live in KC due to amenities, STL is more interesting in terms of history, culture, and activities.

I scored an 8, and I'm 24. Satisfied, but I'm not going to lie, my eyes are terrible. In contacts, I wear -9.5 and -8.5. I'm wondering if poor eyesight plays any role in this. I totally am seeing floaters now that I've stared at the screen for so long, hah.

@SUNSPOT42 "Normal" salt intake...that's part of the problem. A great portion of the population consumes more sodium, on a day to day basis, than what even the author considers normal, particularly if a person eats out or consumes snacks, whether it's pickles or potato chips. People don't even realize how much sodium is in, for example, a piece of bread.

It's good to eat everything, including sodium, in moderation, but unfortunately, I don't think the average American knows that they are eating more than a moderate amount of sodium.

The author doesn't address this reality.

Honestly, it depends on the type of food you like to eat and how you like to cook.

I actually HATE Cook's Illustrated. I prefer to improvise when I cook, using recipes only as a solid guideline. Cook's is just too specific. I'm sure it produces perfect results, but I despise cooking like that.

I don't like Bon App either...I don't think the editorial change helped it much. I wish it had been canned instead of Gourmet.

My top favorites are Fine Cooking and Cooking Light. Lucky Peach is indeed interesting. Jamie Oliver's magazine is as well.

@WILLOW_KENDER hit the nail right on the head.

The author of the NYT article is so preoccupied with ranting that he pretty much only considers the extremes. Salt should be eaten in moderation, like all other foods.

But honestly, articles like this scare me. Americans, as a whole (and yes, I am an American), eat WAY too much sodium period. If you cook all of your meals yourself, you might not have this issue, but most Americans do consume a heck of a lot of sodium. It's in places you wouldn't think of. But if you eat out, eat packaged snacks, etc., chances are, you might be eating more sodium than you think. And our taste buds have grown accustomed to eating saltier foods. The article only gives people more reason to feel like they can eat as much sodium as they want, which is just as dangerous as not eating any sodium at all, per the author.

Thank you! Nothing drives me more nuts than when people will fight you to the death on dry measurements. Dry is totally different from liquid! In the land of flour, 1 cup does not equal 8 ounces.

I would also love to know where the rug is from!

I'm not loving the grounds/exterior, but I love the interior. It's modern, but it's so warm instead of the usual starkness.

I don't think my name will ever be popular, but I'm ok with that. However, it still drives me nuts that people can't spell Phoebe. Nor do they understand what I'm saying, both on the phone and in person. It's not that hard!

@JAETEA, She expanded the bathroom in a reno, which is why it's not as small!

I love this space! My apartment is probably only 50 less square feet, but mine isn't remotely as well done!

Does she own this apartment?

I really like the idea @SherryBinNH suggested about getting some estimates to see what they would do, professionally, to the floor before you start your DIY.

Paint wear will be a lot more obvious than stain wear, so if you can, I'd restain the floors.
