centering the bed with nightstands on each side was the best thing i ever did for my bedroom to feel more adult. if that's too traditional, go for mismatched night stands or end tables. also, splurge on super chic bedding. nothing makes a room completely over like bedding. have fun!!

a big expedit is wasted up against a wall! i use mine to divide up office space. i think you should use it as a make-shift wall, to create a little reading area in the corner by a window or something. i don't know if you have a separate dining area, but if it's an open floor plan it could work as a nice partition between the living/tv space and that as well. gorgeous room. congrats!

i love the second pic. i noticed it at first for its great use of a huge chevron rug (http://www.happyasannie.com/2011/04/chevron-rugs/) but the headboard is pretty fabulous too.

i'm a big fan of mixing very modern looks (shiny duvet) with rustic pieces (headboard). i think that old persian/oriental rug over the gorgeous blue rug underneath is what's killing it for me. maybe getting rid of that would help the shiny duvet look less out of place?

i agree with the above comment. perhaps a bigger storage bench/shoe cart could go against that stair case wall, and you could do a very small + chic console table where your rolling cart is now. do you have something against the stair case wall now, where the photo cuts off?
