i agree with the suggestion of going white with the cabinets. it would be a beautiful and clean contrast with your dark wood floors.

i think taking out the top cabinets and adding in open shelving would open up the space, make the ceilings seems higher, and would create an area that looks less boxy/modular.

worthington goulash is located on the second pic in the lower right. he's now positioned in the living room :)

as far as the wine rack, it was a really fun project. cut 1 foot long pvc piping, spray painted 2 long wood planks, and just used extra long bolt screws to attached to the walls. this project took about half a day including drying time.
