Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year! This year it is very special because not only are we celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary (YAY!), but I will have almost completed my chemotherapy treatments. They have really knocked me down a notch or two, and put things in perspective. I am making two family favorites (cornbread dressing and broccoli/squash casserole), and trundling over to the sweet sister-in-law's house for a wonderful family time together. I like the Novogratz' style very much, though sometimes is seems more like their 'style' than the wishes of the owner. The thing that I found glaring was the Sumo wrestler print. They said they were going for rustic Americana-use a Japanese sports poster? Didn't get it. I agree about not using the flag that way, and I absolutely HATE the Olympians wearing to around their shoulders. Utterly wrong, not matter how you try to explain it. My mother is a hoarder!!! I have fought me entire adult life not to be one-now, she is aging and my brother and I are going to have to clear all that stuff out! My precious new husband is borderline-he goes to Big Lots regularly for "retail therapy", and Good Will receives lots of those cast-offs. I am a recent convert to vegan-ism, but a long time lover of The Kitchn! Thanks for the couple of recipes in this list that are vegan or can be adapted to it. Maybe more of those? It's Reader Request Week at The Kitchn! |
