This picture just makes me happy.

I'd replace the old address letters and perhaps
paint them on the rectangular portion of the door underneath where they are now.

Years ago, a friend bought a duplex and gave me a tour of it.
When he took me into the downstairs apartment, I entered into the living room and felt a sensation I'd never experience before - it was like stepping into a vacuum, where all the air had been sucked out. We went to lunch after, and I asked him if something strange had happened there. He couldn't believe that I had felt what I did - for someone had indeed been murdered in their very apartment.

He burned some sage and did some spiritual healing in the apartment and never had a problem.

If that's a fur rug, I'm appalled

I want to call it "hideous chic."

I had the same thing happen to me. All our family's home movies, plus the super-8's I made as a teenager and the films my father shot of his life in Brazil in the 40's, were taken and were never recovered. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I'm sad about it to this day, 19 years later.

Tree branches are also great for hanging Xmas ornaments. Crate and Barrel usually sells white Manzanita ones around the holidays.

I'll probably save it for a wedding gift.
