your experience, Richard, is very similar to our own. we chose to do disposables for the first few weeks of our daughter's life, and then transitioned to cloth. we still utilize disposables when we're out of the house, though that's starting to shift into cloth as well with the recent purchase of a small wetbag. though our daughter is only 4 months and has yet to get solid food, i look forward to continuing this trend in our household through her poddy training and through however many more children we choose to have.

i think it's sad that there are so many "sides" in the world today. i respect that no everyone can accommodate a cloth diapering lifestyle and that not everyone wants to go disposable. there's no right or wrong as long as the baby (and family) is happy, healthy, and enjoying life!

i'd suggest Etsy as well. i also LOVE littlesaplingtoys (linked by hoxit_rocks_it) though i've yet to buy from them (on my wish list!).

just search for "wood block letter" or something similar and pick a listing that floats your boat!

you forgot to include this tauntaun sleeping bag, a MUST for any star wars fanatic!

it was originally just an april fools gag item offered by thinkgeek, but when the public cried out for the real thing, they made it happen! read more: at the NY Times!

the post starts: "Our childrens' spaces workhouse"

did you mean "workhorse"? cuz the Expedit certainly is a workhorse, but i'm not sure it's a workhouse.

i love how the 2x2 without the inner shelves is the perfect height inside for a hanger bar and baby clothes! awesome!

blue can DEFINITELY be a girl's room color! we painted our guest room blue as well (the first thing we did after moving in because the walls were 9 different colors, but ours is not as dark as yours) and will NOT be repainting for our first-born (gender TBD on its birthday). don't let anyone make you repaint! there are so many ways to make it girly if you want to, or more toward the neutral if you don't want to support stereotypes.

if you want girly: i like the suggestions for white furniture and soft carnation pink accents. or that blue would probably look great with the currently trendy yellow & grey color scheme.

with our blue walls we're going with green and brown accents and lots of unfinished wood tones.

good luck! pictures (when you finish the preparations) are encouraged!
