Thats not weird at all, in any warm climate country cold syrup is a basic standard. Warm is unusual...where I come from.

After our toaster broke, I realised 4 things, 1) couldn't find a replacement i liked, 2) the freed up kitchen bench space was wonderful, 3) its nice not to clean up crumbs and see insects attracted to stray crumbs and 4) We can totally live without this appliance. And in the event that I am desperately craving toast, the griller is turned on.

I have 100% linen curtains - they can definitely be washed in the machine. If you are really worried maybe use the delicate cycle but I put it on the regular cycle, line dry and then iron. They come out beautiful.

When our toaster recently broke, we didn't replace it. Funny enough we get by just fine without one, I now have more bench space and no ugly appliance taking up a power socket! Its amazing what you can live without. This month our oven broke, I seem to be getting by just fine. I know at some point I will want to bake something but it really makes you think...you, we humans can get by on very little.

I have the same problem, the dining table is just in a convenient (and unfortunate) space. When I get home next week I will be setting up the landing strip. After 2+ years of searching unsuccessfully for a hall table I am settling on a new strategy of wall storage instead. Fingers crossed!
