As a fellow sighthound owner - I have a lazy lovely whippet, aren't they the best! - I am impressed by how un-dogged it looks. Our place has toys and beds and blankets all over the place, what's your secret?!

Loving the poster over your bed as well as the same pop of colour under your dining room table with the Flor rugs. Nice job overall!

Lighting advice: when only replacing one or two fixtures, how to ensure they won't clash with the ones left behind, or worse, make the old ones look super outdated?

And how to make sure you're not buying something trendy that will date itself very soon? We have a track light in the kitchen that is space age-y, metal and halogen and looks very year 2000.

Thanks!

DWR doesn't sell this anymore, but this would be a perfect solution to a workspace problem I have. Any ideas on where else to get an attractive folding table??

I am very very behind.... lost momentum around half way through and haven't gotten it back. I just went through my books this past weekend. So I'm planning to start where I left off this weekend and see how far I can get. I've come to the realization that most weeknights are just not doable for me. That being said, I have no plans tonight, so perhaps I'll tackle the cord challenge? perhaps.

Huge props to those of you who have maintained your steam throughout the month. Well done!

ah, thanks for the reminder that at my work we started a collective book share. I will bring most of my purged fiction in and share the love. I think we've all forgotten about it....started it about a year ago.

Liveblogging Day 12: A Sort-Of Book Purge Liveblogging the January Cure

I did a major book purge a few months ago...but realized that the smaller bookshelf we bought to replace the huge one, didn't fit all the books...at least not well. I need to go through them again and try to cull a few more. Will do tonight.

CD's, yes, I am planning to buy a few binders that hold the sleeves as well as the CD's and get rid of the cases. We aren't ready to purge our music collection just yet.

Anyone know of any binders with room for sleeves that aren't crazy expensive?

This was great and will become a more regular event in our house.
Had music on all evening, sang away to it and got so much done. Caught up on the usual chores, but also tackled the bathrooms, the dog cupboard and cleaned out my drawer of the sideboard. excellent!

Day 11: Try a Media Fast Apartment Therapy January Cure

yes. This is good. I was supposed to switch the days and do a media fast yesterday, but hubby was at home and wanted to watch tv. So today, I will both catch up on my project from yesterday and not turn the tv on. Thank goodness music is allowed!!

Also, while i'm at work, I am NOT checking my phone for facebook or email. Just using it as a phone for today. Strangely liberating :)

oh jeez, simmer down everyone.

I think Parnassus' first comment is bang on, try some stuff and see what works. I also debated rug size for so long and drew diagrams as you have done....it was so hard to tell until we got a rug in our space. Thankfully the first one worked!

Also, try a little asymmetry...offset the rug to one side of the sectional, might bring some visual interest to the room?

orrrrrr, you might not even need a rug?

I think I'm going to switch today with tomorrow, as I'm at work today and out at a yoga class until around 9pm tonight...will do a media fast from 5pm on and tomorrow I will do this task. I also was out last night and didn't do anything related to landing strip...but....I have one set up, it just needs a clean, so I feel like I'm in good shape.
Still need to get around to the kitchen clean...maybe this weekend.

I like the last one.... I think in a subtle colour combo, it could work in an 'adult' space. I've been thinking about something like this for the big blank wall in our office. Maybe in the same light grey paint as our living room accent wall?
Have bookmarked the tutorial... thanks.
