amiencc - you're right, the client was my mother, and this is in a home of my family's, but if you think that means that I wasn't held to my usual professional standards you're kidding yourself. My mother is by FAR the hardest client I've ever worked with - she questions me/expects much more of me than any non-family member who's ever hired me. :)

Oh - the blue is Benjamin Moore's Summer Nights (#777) - it's really gorgeous in person.

Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention that the TV is off center because the mount it's on needed to go into studs, and the studs are off center there - we couldn't figure out an easy way around that. Like I said, the DVD player will be moving, and yes! all of you who mentioned the cords are right - they need to be tacked up to the underside of the shelves so you can't see them.

quiltmaster: Yes, the mat is rubber backed

mflick: It does get dirty, but no faster than any other bathmat I've ever had, I actually have two so when the first gets dirty I can switch it out in between trips to the laundromat.

dzignkrazy & trixxie: The shower curtain is actually from Target, we wrote about it in this roundup

Lizzykewl: this particular tile is original and most of the finish has worn off, making it difficult to clean, but in general I've always found small hex tile perfectly fine to clean (and yeah, it's my favorite)

thanks everyone

Thanks guys! There's a 60 watt CFL bulb nestled in the middle, which stays cool to the touch so no fire hazard. I'll do a close up later this week to show how I strung them.

Etsy's search function does leave a lot to be desired. I do have some tricks, though they're too long to write out here - look for a post in the next few weeks about how to successfully use etsy (I really don't mean to be a tease, it's just going to take me a little while to put them together!)

both the poppy paper and the blue stripes are from Paper Source, I just buy their single sheets and cut them down to size.

RichardinLA -

you're right, "reasonable" is different for everyone. The sandblasting and powder-coating for this job cost me $160, which to me was "reasonable" considering the (extremely high) quality of the work and the experience I had with the vendor. It was also reasonable for me because I only spent $50 on the table to begin with.

With vendors who work on a quote-based, per-job pricing system, I generally don't like to publish what I pay for their services, partially because I am in "the trade" and many vendors give me trade discounts as well as the fact that with many vendors I'm a repeat customer who sends a fair amount of work their way, often leading to discounts per-piece (which I pass on to my clients.) It should be noted that I never accept discounts based on my job at AT, and in cases like this didn't even mention that I worked for AT until after the job was already done and I had paid for it.

Hope that's helpful

thanks everyone! The duvet is from Pottery Barn, see the post about it here.

The screen is attached to the wall, not the bed - if people are interested I'll try and put a post together showing how we did it.

thanks for the feedback everyone!

MichelleMyBelle and closertotheocean: the headboard reflected in the mirror is a vintage iron folding screen I spray painted and mounted to the wall - look for an upcoming post on it.

SydneyBristow: the mirror frame was painted wood - I didn't sand it, just wiped it down really well to make sure it was dust free and then spray painted it.

Thanks everyone.

You can't really see it in the photo, but directly to the right of this door is our fridge - we keep the chalk in a small bowl on top of it (although we have experimented with tying a piece of chalk to a string attached to the door in the past.)
