In response to cmcinnyc's response:
Yes a pound of honey or agave is excessive and will be high in calorie and bad for your teeth! But agave and honey are not your friends? There were no claims for agave being magical elixir (though it can be used in elixir recipes) but raw agave is a low glycemic sweetener and is almost as sweet as high glycemic sugars. So, when using agave, not in pounds, it's a superb and very friendly substitute for those not wanting to spike your or your kids blood sugar levels.

Must say I'm the biggest fan of Orange Julius and happy to see this recipe! For those worried about the sugar, you can reduce the sugar by 1/2 to 3/4 cups by substituting with agave nectar!

Also, this great spot in SF - Sidewalk Juice- adds/subs with mango puree, non-fat frozen yogurt and vanilla almond milk to their own rendition.

I will so try this! Another rendition is to use a yummy stout like Lagunita's Cappucino Stout (yearly edition) for a rich and frothy float.

Also, the glass used for the Lambic float is perfect for the pairing! For more French 'Amelie' glass colors and sizes: http://bit.ly/amelieglass

This season my favorites have been the white varieties! Though yellow peaches are definitely better for baking. Also, those cocktail recipes reminded me of a great breakfast refreshment, Bellinis! Prosecco (or any other white sparkling wine) peach nectar = summer indulgence!

I absolutely adore grilled mango! Great to add chili spice too & a fun addition to shish kebabs.

I got inspired by the few days San Francisco has gone without rain this last week and ordered a fold-up picnic basket from Koutali. I hate setting food in the sand / grass / dirt where I'm sitting so having a table or surface is key. The one I ordered is from Sagaform and works a bit differently than the Kelty. http://koutali.com/picnic-picnic-trunk-with-table-khaki -- Lindsay

Yes, you got to get your kids involved in the kitchen well before they start buying cases of Top Ramen!

I fully believe that if they know what tools to use and what to buy when shopping, it's an easy formula for the rest of their life: fresh produce good knife pan at the right temperature = the true joy of cooking

Completely agree that Wusthof knives are the best for quality, reliability and affordability. Also, they just released this new line "Créme" that are elegantly functional (I never thought a knife could be so pretty). Forged carbon steel and some contemporary edge, I'm sold.

By the way, the Créme and the Wusthof Classic series are on sale at Koutáli.com.

I'm a big fan of communal cooking and eating areas. Why not? You get better tools, dinnerware, and appliances, and a more heavy-duty system for the whole process. But, I agree also that sharing bathing areas would be tougher.

One of the things I like best about big kitchens are the access to really heavy-duty pots and pans and cook-surfaces. Living alone in NYC, my puny stove and cheap pans just don't do it...

I've always been blown away by how fun growing things can be. Now in NYC without even a balcony, I'm limited to herb pots on window sills. But, even these make the house seem brighter and more inviting.

Not mentioned above are Bodum's stackable tumblers! They have double-walls and an edge that asserts functionality (not being so round fits better in the hand and less slip)- and I like their contemporary look.
