I'm laughing right now because this reminds me of early matrimony; one time after an unresolved disagreement, I spelled a not nice name out of cut ham and placed it across his mashed potatoes. By the time he had opened his lunch and called to apologize, we had both forgotten we were fighting.

I too, have a washer and dryer in my kitchen.
I think matching, made to size, cutting boards would conceal the tops and make it more functional. With two tops you can just move one on top of the other while your washing.
A nice tailored or gathered skirt can do for the set what skirts have been doing for bathroom and kitchen sinks through- out the ages. I've seen wood skirts too but I'm not that industrious. Thats my take on appearances, for the very real concern about sanitary processing of laundry in the kitchen:
Dont sort or store dirty laundry in the kitchen
Washing everyday as opposed to laundry day will lessen the laundromat-ish takeover of your kitchen
Finally, and probably the only thing I should have posted is a capful of bleach in a quart of water will sanitize any surface coming in contact with laundry. I believe it actually takes less but I like to smell it a little.

Horse handsome eh?
Im voting for this place because this space not only looks nice, it has functional, liveable space for the things I consider essential. The book shelf above the kichenette really allowed me to see just how teeny tiny your studio is. Still, it looks like you manage to live well.

Where can I get one of those hanging, folding dishracks?

Brian, this place is gorgeous and totally functional.
I gave up my washer and dryer for a year to make space for a dinette set in my kitchen. The washer and dryer agreed to take me back, but instead of getting rid of my table, I have been thinking about getting rid of the stove and fridge. Can you comment on/recommend the hotplate?
At first I thought that murphy bed was a wall. I bet that people seldom even notice it. Please tell us more about it. Everything is beautiful. So far you have my vote.

My microwave is on one of those chrome microwave carts- except its on the middle shelf. My laptop is on the top shelf. I dont think I have to bend over anymore than I would if I were getting something out of the oven.

I dont know. When I'm reading, I do so for hours at a time. Without meaning to sound critical, I think that reading nook is destined to become a dog bed. It might be the angle of the photo, but it looks too short to lie down on. There is no back support for sitting and really no comfortable place for the head. Well, the wedge looks really comfy but I think I'd have to let my feet hang down to use it,and I'm only 5'2. Alas, I think this is just an illusion of a cozy reading nook, but it whets my desire for a cozy, napping and reading nook in the office.

This is the first time I have EVER liked the use of empty frames, also one of the most creative wall treatments. Kind of like one of my dreams where everything looks right, (but the background is alive, moving and changing.)
Looks like a room where something happened just before you walked in, but .......hmm?
I dont think I could live in a room this dark, but I love it anyway.

when I saw that long corridor I immediately thought of a long line. How about a mural of people standing in line (maybe obviously waiting to go to the bathroom). LOL Wherever the line goes- it'll be fun because you get to cut to the front of it.

The large project table- I enjoyed seeing one of the options I'd considered in action.

Kitchen-I now know where I am going to stash my dishdrainer and dishes- Yes.

What I like about this tour is that it looks like a home and though it might be, it doesn't look temporary.

I am curious Allie; in such a small and full home, how much time do you actually spend there? (considering microsizing)

I once put down a deposit on an apartment that had "[so and so] is the landlord from hell" painted on the closet door. While waiting for the apartment to be "redone" I learned that the landlord had recently been arrested for hiring someone to kill his soon to be exwife. All this was unsettleing but the deal breaker was that they had cut and patched the new carpet allover to save money. That was 15years or so ago and now after having 11 people over every day for a week in my one bedroom - no bathroom exhaust is definitely a dealbreaker. I have tile countertops and while they are cute they dont seem sanitary to me.

My only recollection of fig eating involved slicing dried figs and inserting a little log of almond paste. The result was very sweet, too sweet. Ive not tried them since. I think cheese with them would have been better. I've never understood why we take something really sweet and add more sweet--like sweet potatoes haha.

I have to add in that Mcdonalds coffee really is good-better even than starbucks imho. Their iced coffee is just that coffee with ice and good but twice the price.
I like a french press. You dont have to use more coffee to get a stronger flavor and each cup is fresh. The main draw back is cleaning the messy grounds. As far as brands, I dont recall but I got mine at target and after about 4 years of daily use the plunger failed at the screw part. I think I paid about 20.00.
