Z Gallery sells one in chrome as well, for something like $225

Nice find!

Best hidden treasure in OC - The Beachcomber. The location is grandfathered in - it's beachfront like you just don't get in this country, and while the food outstanding it is no more expensive than most 'normal' restaurants in the area.

One more- white lacquered floors. They look so damn boss in photos, but dear lord I wouldn't want to have to clean them up after a hike or something.

I won't keep beating up the worst ones (word art. there. I said it.) but I will say I agree with 95% of the above.

Arco lamps. Eames chairs. Noguchi Coffee Tables. Nelson benches. Barcelona chairs, egg chairs, bubble chairs.

Basically, all the Named Masterpieces of furniture- yes, I know they're timeless and beautiful! I've known that for years and so has everybody else! If you're going to decorate your house, it doesn't have to be a MOMA annex, it can be your own individual space where you pick your own ideas of what you like! Sure, have an Eames Lounger. They're fantastic! But don't park it under an Arco lamp next to a case study table with a Panton lamp on it!

Apart from the "Having a Moment" mint papers, I really like #8 - would love to find a place for that

No way! Way too much brown. I just picked up an Indian Kilim rug off Craigslist and would recommend you do the same.

The beautiful people inside? Is that wrong?

Seriously though, some of the reclaimed hardwood floors featured have been eye-watering.

To achieve LEED Platinum on a house like that is... crazy. The real estate guy part of me is seriously impressed, as most people are content with any LEED standard, usually silver. This is way over the top in a totally, well, dull package.

I feel like I've seen those barstools at Z Gallery? Room & Board has a similar set, I think

Great place, especially like the vintage LP and artwork.

Lindsey - checked out your music; it seems your musical space fits your physical space well. Very Emiliana Torrini, I really enjoyed it

I find this pretty hysterical - I live in SoCal and had a poster over my bed as a kid when the Northridge earthquake hit. It was the biggest earthquake we've had in 20 years, and because we used proper mounting techniques it stayed there while I slept through the quake.

Tell your man to sack up! Drill into the wall to mount the hooks and you'll be fine.

Love these guys- I have bought from them on 3 occasions now, and while they're best known for their little knick knacks and accessories, they also carry some really tasteful furniture choices. The HAY chairs they are selling are on my wish list and they put in an order of String shelves from Sweden a couple months back. Can't wait for those!

MEN LIKE BEER AND MUSTACHES. WOMEN LIKE SHOPPING AND ROMANCE NOVELS.

Gift guides are pretty depressing. Shouldn't you know your loved ones well enough to pick something out that they are interested in?

As a guy, I'm asking for a couple Nato watch straps, fair isle socks, a pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile boots, a coffee table book called Gestalten about racing paint jobs, some surfer bracelets, high performance brake pads, the new Assassin's Creed, some books, a bike rack, some running shoes, concert tickets, some Criterion DVDs, a Hard Graft iPad case...

I have been subtly pointing these things out for the past month or two, and if anybody noticed I'd be stoked. If anything seems like a good idea for a guy in your life feel free to pick it up, most of those are pretty manly, I suppose.

You should find a proxy in the future- I have use a proxy service to buy several items available only in japan and it has been a win-win for both parties. They get to charge me $20 or so to go to the store and buy something, I get unique stuff not available in the US. Many of us would be willing to be a proxy for you, I'm sure!

Holy cow, get rid of that radioactive couch! Replace it with something you like, and hang up a couple prints from somebody like Zach Johnsen or Max Neutra that you can get for next to nothing. I am getting 8th or 10th in line on the white frames bandwagon - all my prints are in white frames at my place

Holy damn I love it. Why is that so hard to integrate??? It's practically modern art. I have a print from Mike Mitchell called "Brobocop" (you can google it if you want) that I put in a gold antique frame and hung in the kitchen. My girlfriend and I both love it, and while it took her a couple days to get used to she really enjoys it now, I've even caught her talking to him a couple of times (he usually sides with her in our little disagreements). Yeah, she crazy.

The Color Block rugs from Scholten and Baijings for Hay are definitely lustworthy - I'd put them out of my mind but a store in Venice re-introduced me and now I can't stop wanting!

I love my DWR tripod lamp - got it for $90 in basically unused condition last year. I think it's my best craigslist find yet and it gets compliments all the time.
