The link for the honey grilled shrimp isn't working and I'm drooling over it right now.

I loooove chickpeas too. I like to add the canned pre-cooked kind to the last 5-10 minutes of this roasted veggie dish I make with olive oil, balsamic vinegarette and herb seasoning of choice. It's a good (and quick) way to make the roasted veggies into a heartier meal in my opinion and it's very yummy.

I'll try those tips for determining when the fish is done, but I am notoriously paranoid about undercooked fish (which is why I don't cook it at home), so I often end up overcooking it and having dry fish. I've even tried other cooks' tips about looking at the fish to make sure it's no longer translucent but I can never fully trust it.

Liver and onions, rice and carrots. Although the liver and onions is the only thing that really smells, everytime I go home my mom makes that meal for me (it was my favorite growning up) and just a hint of a whiff of fried liver makes me think of home.

Weird but true, I check the window positioning of private locations. My ex-boyfriend rented a place where his bedroom window was directly across from the neighbor's bedroom window and the bathroom window looked out onto their patio.

I have had a placeholder Ikea rug for three years now. I keep dreaming that one day I'll be able to afford my dream rug from the Rug Company but I haven't gotten it together yet. I think subconsciously I put it off b/c I feel silly spending so much for a rug, but anything else in that space will always "feel" second best to me. So my Ikea rug just keeps holding the place.

My cat flys home with me 1x per year during the Christmas rush so it's pretty stressful but I've found two key ways to eliminate the stress: (1) place something familiar in smell for them in the carrier (e.g. a blanket, towel, pillow case, etc. they often sit/sleep on) and (2) if you can manage it, take as much time as possible to stay outside the airport with your pet so they can be out of the carrier for as long as possible (I usually check my bags and then hang out right outside the airport doors until maybe 15-20 min. before boarding time instead of going directly to the gate.)

I fell in love with this awesome apple green couch that I thought went with absolutely nothing in my living room. I'd been going for a warm orange/gold/brown pallet. After posing the idea to apartmenttherapy (thanks for all the comments by the way!) I went for it and haven't regretted it one minute. The color really pops in the room and it's amazing how many beautiful floral orange and green combos you can fine. I usually try to place one somewhere in the room to tie it all togther.

I second the comment about living near work, especially if your partner is a "big firm" attorney. With the hours I find it makes a big difference to be able to drive home in 15 min. as opposed to commuting far away. In addition to the public transportation being horrible after normal business hours, I found that construction tends to crop up in the most inconvenient spots late at night.

I live in Silverlake now and work downtown and love it. The neighborhood is great and the commute is freeway-free and very short.
