I grew up in Europe as well and didn't know anyone who had a dryer. Still don't. Washing machines yes, dryers not so much. Everyone just dries clothing on racks or old fashioned pulleys or outside on a line. I've never had a problem with stiff or itchy clothing though, things are perfectly soft dried naturally. Plus they just seem fresher. And it doesn't cost a fortune to air dry anything!

Now I use the dryer in my communal laundry room in my apartment building and I don't like it at all. Stuff shrinks ridiculously and never smells fresh no matter what you put in there. Give me air drying any day, or at least a day when it isn't minus twenty out... :)

I'd give these a try! I wouldn't expect them to work as well as ice though.

And for those spoiled idiots griping about Europe in a ridiculously generalizing manner, I'd rather buy a drink that was already cold and get a full drink than a glass half filled with crushed ice and a half amount of beverage. And I grew up in the UK and I can tell you that free refills do happen in a lot of places there, just as there are lots of places here in the U.S. that do not offer them.

I just love all of these, they really add a nice "different" dimension to a room. Plus I'm all for a little color.

Also, unrelated, but is it just me or is there a REALLY ANNOYING ad over the comment box? I can't get rid of it at all. I don't know if it's a browser thing or just a deliberate annoyance but it's really peeing me off.

I think landlords should only be entitled to know if you are working (can pay for the apartment/house) and if you've rented a place before and that you paid promptly.

All I ever gave landlords was my name, my employers' name, a letter from my employer if necessary, my last address and a landlord reference for that address. That's it. I NEVER give anyone my SS number or bank information unless it's for my taxes or the like and I've never handed over a credit report either, which was worrying me because I have a bankruptcy due to medical bills in the past. I've still managed to rent fairly easily though with just the landlord's reference and employee info.

I hope your sister gets this sorted out with as little pain as possible.

Hate the "we". It makes me cringe. Next you'll be referring to yourself as "one". One is peed off with the "we".

I hang my own paintings strategically in my home - I think it's a great way to personalize. I mean what says "Me" more than my own work? Nothing represents my taste more. Plus when I want something original that fits my color scheme, I can choose a painting of my own that fits without spending a fortune obtaining something no one else has.

I'm another person who doesn't get the editorial "we" thing. It sounds pretentious and outdated. What's wrong with having a singular opinion? I thought only the Queen of England used the royal "we".
