The owner of my local wine shop agrees: he convinced me to switch to jars in the fridge over vacuum corks. I can definitely taste the improvement. Another nice trick is buying a half-bottle of wine with a screw-top for storage. Less moonshine-y, perhaps? Smart Tip: Use a Canning Jar to Keep Leftover Wine For Up to a Week Food52 |

I strive to be as organized as @scraps, and when I come close it pays off. After grocery shopping on Sunday, I ty to spend a few hours in the kitchen making yogurt (in small jars) and a few salads that will last for lunches all week. Raw kale and cabbage hold up well, so something including those and whatever is left over from the week before — bell pepper, quinoa, feta. If I know we'll be making pizza or soup, I'll make sauce or stock. Or I might cook a pot of beans or make hummus. Tomato sauce, stock, beans, and legumes are always made in big quantities so I can stash part in the freezer. Oops!6 Time-Wasting Mistakes You're Making in the Kitchen Lifehacker |

Maybe CCP MBD is referring to is this brand. I used to be devoted to it, because I like the label and it's so cheap...But after I realized it was made with vanillin, I switched to Penzey's. Pricey — but tastes so much better. What's the Difference? Vanilla Extract, Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Paste |

Really beautiful work. I like the lush over-grown grass a lot actually. The geometry of the pavers keeps it looking neat enough. Before & After: Empty to Lush Backyard Studio G |

Are those the Miami Dolphins colors? Erk! I think you should go with white (or black and white since the appliances are black), and focus on the back splash, and, if possible, the counter. The wood handles could have a nice MCM look if they weren't in the NFL color-scheme. Ways To Pull This Rental Kitchen Together? Good Questions |

I normally jut wipe out with a paper towel if it's oil or butter. I used to do salt on anything grodier, but it's a bit abrasive on your fingertips/gloves. I, for one, love the change: It's bright, fresh, and intuitive to navigate. Yes, if you're a long-time AT visitor, it takes some getting used to. But that's an inherent problem with any redesign. The web can't simply stagnate to prevent everyone from being temporarily disconcerted. In my mind, the new site is much less chaotic, more fluid, and simply makes the same great content more fun to see. It is a bit slow — but maybe that's just a matter of optimizing things as they get set up. Welcome to the New Apartment Therapy! |

I've bought from Etsy for years and had nothing but awesome transactions... Up until I decided that, rather than wait years before I have the time to make my own roman blinds, I should pay someone else to do it. Unfortunately, this entailed buying $200 worth of organic cotton and having it sent to the seller. Months later, she still hadn't completed the blinds. Reading her feedback revealed that she was probably a very talented seamstress (many good reviews) with a penchant for madness (a handful of *insane* stories of her unresponsiveness/hostility/dishonesty). Sure enough, as soon as I inquired about my shades, she lashed out and said I was an impatient *%$#. Oof! She cancelled the order, but refused to send back the fabric or refund me for its value. Etsy support was kind and sympathetic, but their ultimate policy is that you shouldn't send materials to a seller. So that's just how it ended. I see now that she's no longer selling under that name, but I hope this can be a lesson to someone else! Reader Survey: Have You Had a Bad Experience with an Etsy Seller? |

I agree with Aimi; the neighborhood cats adore my mulch. But I have had luck with Cat Stop, from Gardener's Supply. It detects motion and emits a sound cats don't like (and we can't hear). I bought rechargeable batteries to minimize the impact. But it's still plastic and fairly ugly — so not the greenest option out there. It works though! It's still great content, but so cluttered and hard to read now. kdpatton, I think you hit the nail on the head. Plus, the floppy, flesh-toned velvet ribbons don't work well for me. For an instant, I thought they were little clumps of raw (sundried tomato?) pasta. Ric rac works better, but seems incongruous with the "elegant" theme.
