Love this post! In moderation a good entertainment binge is just fine - especially in the winter. Totally binged on the first season of Revenge on Netflix this winter. So much fun. As are literary binges because it means you're reading a good book. I'd recommend Wilkie Collin's classic, the Woman in White for your next binge. I happily lost a weekend to it last winter. I've actually been late for parties because I needed to finish a really engrossing book, even though I prefer real people to fictional ones :) While I made it to the New Years party, I had to finish The Time Traveler's Wife first. Same with the barbeque this summer that really had to wait until after I'd finished the Hunger Games.

Love the bookshelves, but don't really like the TV in front of the window either.

I completely agree with you about social media! I've been feeling like Facebook is both boring and irritating at the same time. It's an easy way to keep up with friends and family who live very far away, but not worth much more than that. Never joined Twitter and don't think I will. Love blogs and Pinterest though. I wonder why those are so much more enjoyable?

Part of the problem is that new couches aren't made very well - even the expensive ones. I've got a couch and loveseat that are older than I am and incredibly well made. The style is classic so I'm just going to recover the fabric which is a bit faded and I think they'll last much longer, in both construction and style, than the new couches out there. I don't have any pets though so I don't have that worry!

@ruadsarah I totally agree! I got rid of my firm-issued blackberry after switching jobs a few years back and have never replaced it with a smartphone. I deal with my evening emails all at once when I get to the office in the morning and that works just fine. I know I have more time in the evenings after work because I'm not responding to every email at every minute of the day. I also think that smartphones can make us feel like we never have enough time because there is always something competing for our attention. It's not relaxing to sit down with a book, or meet up with a friend, if you're constantly checking email or texting.

Also, I totally agree with #7 on this list! It's been almost 5 years since I've owned a TV and I've never missed it. Plus, it's so much easier to decorate my living room without that ugly thing around :)
