Love this post! In moderation a good entertainment binge is just fine - especially in the winter. Totally binged on the first season of Revenge on Netflix this winter. So much fun. As are literary binges because it means you're reading a good book. I'd recommend Wilkie Collin's classic, the Woman in White for your next binge. I happily lost a weekend to it last winter. I've actually been late for parties because I needed to finish a really engrossing book, even though I prefer real people to fictional ones :) While I made it to the New Years party, I had to finish The Time Traveler's Wife first. Same with the barbeque this summer that really had to wait until after I'd finished the Hunger Games. Immersed in Stories: From Binge-Watching to Marathon Reading |

Love the bookshelves, but don't really like the TV in front of the window either. Rochelle's January Cure: My Third Week January Cure Diaries |

Part of the problem is that new couches aren't made very well - even the expensive ones. I've got a couch and loveseat that are older than I am and incredibly well made. The style is classic so I'm just going to recover the fabric which is a bit faded and I think they'll last much longer, in both construction and style, than the new couches out there. I don't have any pets though so I don't have that worry! Picking The Perfect Couch: A Timeline of Couches That Didn't Last |

@ruadsarah I totally agree! I got rid of my firm-issued blackberry after switching jobs a few years back and have never replaced it with a smartphone. I deal with my evening emails all at once when I get to the office in the morning and that works just fine. I know I have more time in the evenings after work because I'm not responding to every email at every minute of the day. I also think that smartphones can make us feel like we never have enough time because there is always something competing for our attention. It's not relaxing to sit down with a book, or meet up with a friend, if you're constantly checking email or texting. 10 Simple Ways to Carve More Time Into Your Day |
