I was one of those who bought a Kartell Componibli 2-shelf units for $65 (original price $119). It was very busy so I'm glad I was there early. It's definitely worth going to the Annex if you're in the NYC area. Luckily I live about 5 miles of the outlet store. I'll probably never buy anything full price at one of the regular DWR retail shops! Apartment Therapy New York | DWR Annex: Design at a Discount |

The first I ever heard of Dwell was several years ago in a photography class because the teacher mentioned the great photography. I've been a subscriber ever since. I love the eye candy and most of the things are so out of my reach financially that it would be silly to compare the magazine to how I live now. It does still manage to inspire me and articles that touch on urban planning and transportation can apply to all income groups. Compared to the only other shelter magazine I get, Domino, I find Dwell far less consumer orientated. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Inspiring or Alienating: Dwell |

I have similar yellow tiles in my bathroom with black tiles for the trim and some burgandy tiles on the floor. I love it and embraced the yellow. At Restoration Hardware I found a shower curtain that had the same tone, but lighter, yellow. I also painted my vanity cabinet a matching yellow paint from the same store. So if you want a more monochromatic look see links below. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | SF Good Questions: Paint Color with Yellow and Burgundy Tile? |

Those minimum square footage requirements for building your own house are ridiculous and it makes me mad to learn about such things. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | A Dwell Reader on Small HomesDwell: June 2008 |

I kind of hate this trend of shelving by color. For a small amount of books it's okay I guess, but for a collection of the size pictured it's crazy. But then I catalog books for a living so it's kind of a horror to me. Melvil Dewey is turning over in his grave I'm sure. Reminds me of a cheaper version of a coverlet from Garnet Hill I've been coveting for months. Not sure if I trust the quality of the West Elm one though. Apartment Therapy New York | Organic Cotton Pleated Bedding from West Elm |

I kind of like the idea of emphasizing the akwardness and going a little crazy with this room. You could do a type of Mondrian effect on the back wall and ceiling. Make grids with paint on the wall and use solid color shades on the window. Paint the beam and some other rectangular or square shapes on the ceiling as well. Personally I would go a neutral color palette or else it might get too over-powering. The other walls would be better left one color too. Your furniture would work well with this theme because of its straight lines. Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: Window Covering Ideas?#comments |

I haven't read "Nickeled and Dimed", but my experience working for them was good. Granted I was there for a very short time and on part-time, but I'm sure it varies from office to office. I don't remember being pressered to skimp on supplies. It was important to do a good job. And I smashed my finger in a car door while on the job and I was encouraged to go home. I worked a summer for Merry Maids while in college. This was about 15 years ago though. They paid better then fast food or retail. I was interested in interior design/architecture and it was a good chance to see inside amazing homes. Also learned some good tips about cleaning that I still use. Each office is going to be a bit different because you will get some lazy workers, but if the client is happy they will use the same team over and over and establish a good working relationship. If you have the money and really hate cleaning I would try them out. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Merry Maids Cleaning Services |

I love the rustic floors and the dining table. I agree with the suggestions that the furniture placement would probably be better if things were not all up against the walls. Apartment Therapy New York | East #25: Lauren's First Post-College Grown-Up Digs |

Recycled rubber tiles are great for outdoor spaces. I think they come in some bright colors which would lighten up the patio. I'm not sure if they are terribly inexpensive, but for a small space they probably aren't too pricey. Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: How Can I Bring Personality to My Patio? |

This gives me some good ideas for my bathroom which is completely yellow tiled. And I mean completely-- walls, floor and ceiling. I want those Anthroplogie towels. I've been eyeing them for awhile. I have the bathmat for that set (not the one pictured though). I also have the butter shower curtain from Pottery Barn. So yeah, my bathroom is quite monochromatic. I agree the fireplace is the first thing that needs to be changed. Either paint it a light neutral or drywall or tile over the brick for a sleeker modern look. The paneling doesn't look bad in the picture so I wouldn't paint over it. With floor length curtains and a full bookcase the paneling will be minimalized somewhat. I like the rug but not for this room. It's too dark and the lines are too repititious with the lines in the wood flooring and paneling. This room has a lot of potential. Good luck. Pinko - you can get this wallpaper on ebay. Do a search for "vintage damask wallpaper." It's pretty cheap too, although probably not the best quality, but it was easy to work with. Apartment Therapy New York | East #2: Malinda's Black & White Bookcase#comments |

I think BB&B is good for basic stuff. My friends and family shop there a lot so I was not surprised to get a BB&B gift certifcate for Christmas too. I got a Jonathan Adler bedskirt on clearance for under $25. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Thoughts on Bed, Bath & Beyond? |

I have something very similar in my apartment and I think they are screw heads. It's just too uniform to be mold. I started noticing them around the time there was construction going on next door. It is a bit worrisome about how structurally sound my building is now. Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: What Could These Black Dots Be? |
