If you plan on replacing the tile I think you would need a permit as the building dept. might not think of it as just cosmetic due to the requirement of waterproofing. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Working on a Rental Without Permission |

I would start off cautious with soap and water. You can move to baking soda or soft scrub to get out other stubborn stains but test first. And, don't use a scrubbing pad as they can leave color marks. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Questions: Cleaning/Whitening ABS Plastic?Los Angeles |

A good upholsterer can repair/replace the springs without having to reupholster the sofa. They can go in from the underside to repair or if they have to remove the existing fabric they could reapply it. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Good Questions: How To "Firm Up" a Couch? |

The chairs are by McGuire. Expensive, but worth the money. They will literally last forever. I am currently recovering some for a client who was given a set that was once owned by her mother. They are about 20 years old. Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Table Chairs from Will Grace? |

I have to agree with the cost issue. Although even at $2k that is a great price, we should still consider time involved as being worth something. Also, what about permit costs? Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Before and After: A $1400 IKEA Kitchen Makeover |

I agree with Fueledbycoffee. I hate that AT would even suggest another company "knock-off" furniture. How about if CB2 or Ikea take inspiration from this table and create something unique that fits a lower price point. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Knockoff Wishlist: F2 Folding Table by Ligne Roset |

Love, love, love Mexico City. We stay at the W for a few reasons: it is reasonably priced, it is central to where we want to go and what we want to see, the staff is great. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Good Questions: Hotels in Mexico City? |

I never really understood the small rug in front of a sofa and under just the coffee table. A rug should help define a space, or zone. The other thing I hate is when furniture is partly on and off a rug, especially chairs. Even as a decorative element, a rug should define a seating group. Especially in a dining room when the chairs are half on and off the rug. It makes the dining area feel small and cramped. A great rule of thumb is 3' perimeter around the table for a rug so the chairs can slide in and out easily and guest don't feel like they are partially off the rug. for a somewhat cheap alternative get a double thick board of foam core. Not as reusable as cork, but cheaper. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Open Thread 125 San Francisco |

My advice is to buy the best shredder you can. I love the fact that I don't have to open any junk mail in order to shred it. I would also recommend one that can shred credit cards and CDs. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Round Up: Shredders |

What bepsf is describing is called a "breather button" we use them when we have either leather or outdoor fabric cushions made. You can look online for these although I don't know if the technical name is "breather button", but you may want to stop by a local upholstery shop and see if you can buy a few from them. I would go with the sofa snap system. I have my upholsterer use it on all of our sectionals and it works great. I don't see another options, maybe some else has one. Could you use duct tape or heavy duty carpet tape. It would probably ruin the fabric underneath the sofa but would eliminate the need for drilling.
