I grew up with my father only using a Chemex for coffee, I thought it was the only way to make coffee. I will admit that I use a preset drip machine now because I don't always have the time to heat water for the Chemex, but I do miss how it tastes. I could never find the hook in the red color, only the white and metal finish. I looked and looked and hoped they would eventually have the hook in red, but neither the website (at the time I was looking) nor the store near me ever had the hook, only the drawer handle in red. I finally bought some in the metal finish and primed and painted them in red. I never thought to use the plasti dip and now I wish I had, it looks great. Apartment Therapy Boston | Look! I believe that the pic is of an old Georgian Mansion, not a newly built McMansion, (which I agree with you are horrible). If not, they did a very good job replicating something old. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | 21 Tips for Downsizing Oregon Home |

Definitely check your thermometer. Also, my favorite recipe is by Martha Stewart. They take forever, but are really worth it. Apartment Therapy The Kitchen | Good Question: How Do I Make Chewy Caramels? |

Another option for donating is your local homeless shelter. The women's shelter in San Francisco will take pretty much anything, including clean usable underthings and half empty bath supplies. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Blogging Real Simple: Donate It or Ditch It? |

Slim, I used to buy Mrs. Stewart's Bluing at a store in my old neighborhood, Le Beau Nob Hill on the corner of Leavenworth and Clay. Might be a bit out of your way, but you could call and see if they still have it. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Soften Sheets with Baking Soda |

We had ours done, twice now and it has yet to stay on our 1908 claw foot bathtub. It has peeled off both times. Unfortunately getting a new bathtub up to our apartment is impractical, so we will probably have it refinished again in a few years. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Green Tip: Refinish that Bathtub |

I usually make soup with vegetables from my CSA that I haven't had a chance to eat and some vegetable or mushroom stock. This week pumpkin soup made with leftover onion and mushroom stock and pumpkin from our jack'o'lantern at Halloween that I had in the freezer. I can usually get a few lunches with the soup and some toast before I get completely sick of it. Then it's sandwiches or leftovers. Apartment Therapy The Kitchen | Tip: How to Remember Your Lunch |

We use metal reusable coffee filters. My mom has had the same one for 20 years. The gold color is not as bright, but the filter works great still. I bought my boyfriend one and we use it every time we make coffee. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Blogging The Green Guide: Three Steps to Reducing Kitchen Paper Waste |

We have this in the loveseat size in Birch with white covers. It is pretty comfortable actually and the loveseat is the perfect size for our tiny, tiny studio. We are moving soon and I am seriously considering getting the larger sofa for our new living room. I like the darker color, but would definitely have to recover to seats, the white is a little too stark with the black stain. Apartment Therapy Chicago | LILLBERG Sofa at IKEA |

That is a beautiful rug, I agree. However that one isn't mine. My rug is currently almost completely hidden by my bed and other various furniture pieces, so I couldn't take a decent picture. It is very similar in style, but not color as mine is mostly a golden yellow with plum and rust red flowers and sage and pine green leaves. It was my best ever Craigslist purchase. Occasionally I have seen similar pieces on Ebay. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | SF Good Questions: Recommendations for Professional Rug Cleaner? |

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get a rug cleaned. I have a cut-wool rug from the 30's that needs to be cleaned, and due to the age I don't want to do it myself nor do I want to trust to just anybody. Anybody have any suggestions for good people they have used? Thanks! Apartment Therapy - Open Thread 87 |
