Well, actually it's VERY easy to make black sesame paste. Just toast the black sesame, and toss them in a grinder (with sugar, your choice).

ehh.. I have to say you got the bad ones.... asian pears are very crispy and sweet, (frankly I think they are much more edible than most other pears...) One thing you could do it just boil them for a little while with brown sugar. That's a simple sweet soup very healthy for autumn.

@AustrianinParis The most famous one is Nan Xiang xiao long in downtown Shanghai (at Cheng Huang Miao, next to Yu Garden). But definitely the best ones I've had were in small restaurants in small neighborhoods.

And as for the soup, basically you could just cook a big stock with pork bones and any meat with skin on. It's the skin that contains a lot of collagen. So when the soup is concentrated enough, it will be gelatin-like in fridge. ( I dont think we really add gelatin)

That's what I've been looking for in US! They are very often used in desserts made from glutinous rice flour. You could just pour it on desserts as sauce. The flower blooms in autumn and people even make perfume from them. I absolutely love the flavor!!

OMG, I LOVE THEM SOOOO MUCH! One chinese/cantonese dish is to mix this bean with baby ribs, marinate for a couple of hours and steam for 30-60min.
