I guess its easy to forget that home decor is almost exclusively for white people. :-/

Can you post information on decorating bathrooms? I have a poster I want to hang in a bathroom but I am worried about the humidity and the possibility of mold. Are there framing/mounting techniques that work best in such an environment?

Since you're in NY - you need to consider if these will be plants you're bringing in during the winter, or if you want to buy perennials that can survive the harsh outdoor new york cold.

If it is the latter, I suggest getting some starts for perennials at a garden store. Lavender grows wonderfully outside in NY, for example.

Is the tree in the bedroom real?

Very stylish apartment, without being sterile like some other houses. It still has a lot of character.

I snagged one of these on my last ikea run just cause I thought it looked cool, and I have been using it as a desk lamp at night, for when i rarely need one. I also hope to use it this summer for barbecues, to put outside when it starts to get dark.

It's cute. Are those global knives? I'm just worried it doesn't have enough slots. I have 2 chef's knives, a paring knife, and 4 steak knives in my current knife block.

One option that my friends used recently when moving into a large apartment with a narrow entryway is there is a service called i believe "the furniture doctor" where they will remove the apholstery, saw the couch in half, move the furniture into the apartment, and reattach the wood and apholstery, and the finished result is undetectable. It's not cheap, but if you are moving apartments and you need to keep your big couch, it's an option.

Ikea has a solid wood wall-mounted headboard in various that is easy to install that runs for I think $130. I looked around and it was the best option for me at that price range.

I agree with misserock- this post is a good case for headboards.

I'm not crazy about sleeping under a hanging picture either. Not just for earthquake safety reasons- it's just bad feng shui.

If all you're concerned with is privacy then you don't need the treatments to go all the way to the angled ceiling, and the folding screens mentioned might be the best option.

If you're also looking to be able to block light out of the room at night I'm not sure what you can do.

I have been working on putting panel curtains over my closet for like a two weeks now... it's become a bit of an ordeal, getting the logistics just right.

Just last night I was thinking of scrapping the whole project entirely, but this post is making me more enthusiastic about finishing it. I definitely enjoy a project that I've committed passion into, that's for sure.

Household of two- we run it every other day but we cook almost every night, and frequently entertain guests; I don't feel that we're ever running the dishwasher when it's not full, and we don't seem to have odor problems.

Love the open kitchen. Loft beds scare me.

As Sousani points out, do they not have an oven?

If it works for them that's great. It's an adorable house.

I'm most impressed with the headboard. Headboards are ridiculously expensive, so it's always a good idea to reappropriate if you can.

I recently just reorganized my closet and I appreciate posts like this. For me though, the main obstacle was uncluttering. I agree with most of the posters above, this guy needs to remove duplicate functionality items- jeans and sneakers seem like he should pare down to the ones he actually likes and wears often, and donate the rest to charity.
