I find many of the items listed here are not at all what I would think to be good reading foods. Soups and such are way too liquid and can splash all over your pages. I try to avoid anything that is oily (even some cheeses) or anything that could do some damage to the book. (If your not sure, you can leave a bit of whatever it is out on some paper towel, and check back later for markings.) Also, they need to be foods that you can eat without taking your eyes off the pages.

Some of what I think to be good reading foods are: grapes, non-sticky candies like twizzlers or jelly beans, vegetables like celery and green beans, small sandwiches that don't fall apart, pretzels are usually okay, candies that you can suck on like toffees or jolly ranchers and pretty much anything you can eat with a fork as long as it's not too crumbly or wet.

If your going to drink something as well, I would put it in something that either has a cap or a place for a straw. I've even done that for some soups as well, in my youth.
