As a bookbinder myself, I can tell you that $65 is a GREAT deal, especially if it has custom printed pages in it for you to fill out. Beautiful simple design on the cover too.

So I understand the vinyl was in poor shape before, but as a lover of mid-century design, particularly Eames design, this makes me sad. At least go with something more classic and won't go out of style in 6 months.

Like a lot of people have already noted, it's consumer's common sense. There are tons of toxic, dangerous, sharp, suffocating items in stores and dumb people do what they may with them, and all those things do not need to specified by law.

It's kind of like gun laws - banning them doesn't keep them out of bad peoples' hands. Making crib bumpers against the law doesn't keep people from making them. This all seems very unnecessary.

I like this idea, and even pinned it on my Pinterest boards. That's also another thing I'd like to point out: I'm getting disappointed that websites I read to find new ideas just highlight projects I've seen circulated all over the internet. :(

I appreciate the low-key views expressed here. We too thought about cloth diapering, but since we live in rented apartments with a separate laundromat, it just wouldn't work for us. We are also poor college students who don't have a lot of upfront money at any given time, so throwing $350-400 in the beginning was a big deterrent. So far, we rarely have problems with diaper rash (only diarrhea-caused), so I just thought I'd make that point.
Perhaps we'll reconsider when we move into a house with our own washer-dryer and a salary-paid job. Although, how do people who are going "green" with cloth diapers explain the amount of water you have to use between flushing, rinsing and washing? That's my one big hang-up.

We have the Peapod from Kidco and we love how compact it is. At first we almost got a pack-n-play, but it would have been more hassle to fly with it than with the Peapod. When our baby wasn't mobile, she absolutely loved it and slept all night. Now that our little one crawls, she thinks she's being contained and screams all night when we travel. We're thinking we'll come back to it when she old enough to think it's "cool".

I think more important than safety glasses is finding a hammer without the claws on the back. (Do they make those?) I can't even be trusted with a hammer because those things can be vicious!

P.S. I don't think these were made for children necessarily. I'd just use it as a whiteboard.

I saw these/them at a local craft fair! Way to represent UT! My husband and I thought these were super cleaver and very well made. Good to see that Ohdeedoh has shared this good 'redesign'.

Now if the government could just adjust their food vouchers on their food stamps/WIC to include more fresh ingredients rather than processed food, and encourage better food education by teaching basics like what nutrients come from what foods, then we could actually be making some headway with nutrition education.

Many of the other experienced bookbinders beat me to it....glad you guys could offer some good advice. In the long run though, I appreciate that there are "cheaper alternatives" for people who may not fully appreciate well-made handcrafted books. And it allows the trade to stay a specialty, which will help the sales of those who choose to make and sell handmade books.
Good, inexpensive tutorial for beginners though. It's addicting!

My 4th birthday cake was made from this book! I've been trying to convince my mom to give it to me, but she won't part with it....a scanned version is all she'll give me!
I'm not into the coconut part of it, but it's nice to make "character" cakes out of basic shapes and pans we already own. Looking forward to making these for my little one soon!

I agree with PapaRob. I'm amazed how quickly my 7 month old understood the touchscreen aspect of it. It's intuitive for them. She learned to unlock it too....
I wouldn't let her actively play with it, but anytime I had it and she was nearby, I'd let her see it. The downside: we used it as a music player one night, (the night she learned to pull up on her feet), and she slobbered all over it. It's dead now. :( I would have loved this protective case!

We were going to postpone buying a crib, but then there was a sale so we got one. However, we also got a bassinet that stays next to our bed (I suppose that's a "co-sleeper"), that our daughter used until she was too big for it.

I'd recommend a co-sleeper.

I too hated Catcher in the Rye. I found it ridiculous that we could not read Huckleberry Finn because it used certain words in it, yet, we had to read Catcher in the Rye. I also think The Giver should be on it.
