I used ABF U-Pack last summer for a move from Los Angeles to Madison, WI, with 1 month of storage in Madison. ABF was great. My tips for a successful move: 1. Buy new, good-quality boxes (the ones from U-Haul fared much better than the free grocery store ones). 2. If you hire movers to load your truck, make sure they know what they're doing. Otherwise your furniture will be damaged. Lesson learned.

Also, please be aware of the possibility that the popcorn contains asbestos. My understanding is that it's not so harmful if left alone, but painting/scraping/hammering/drilling can release fibers. Hopefully someone else can give some more information about this, as I only know what I found on the internet when I had popcorn ceilings in my own apartment!

Costco also does this with their chicken (tenders or breasts, maybe other cuts as well), although I don't think it's organic. They can be tough to tear apart perfectly (I've torn the next package before), so I usually use scissors to separate them.

I think I need this kitchen someday. I love all the pops of various colors against the white! And, the mix of countertop materials - LOVE!

I think you'd feel a lot better with a different paint color. It looks a bit heavy for the space, and is fighting with your cabinets and the stone on your fireplace. Could just be my browser, though, since no one else has mentioned it. Good luck!

Agree about the Mother sauces - or maybe just some "must know for any cook" recipes.

Also, crusty bread that's fluffy on the inside. Mine generally looks great, but is far more dense than I'd like.

@Sally305 - Not sure about the dogs and crockpot lids, but I recently saw an ad for a crockpot that has clamps for keeping the lid on during travel. It might be worth looking into. Maybe you can clamp the lid on during cooking, as well?

I don't even want to think about the mess that my flokati rug caused in my first apartment. Ikea. White fuzz everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. Plus it ruined my vacuum. It became disaffectionately known as "the pet."

I miss the look and coziness, though.

GREAT question! I'm in a similar situation, in that I am the only one living within driving distance of the timeshare where my family will be celebrating Thanksgiving. It will also be my first time preparing the Thanksgiving meal. What should I bring with me??

Those meat cleavers never fail to make me woozy. I almost fainted when my mom opened one up on Christmas morning. Looking at this picture, I can't help envisioning someone lopping off a finger or something when reaching for a harmless cheese knife.

Whatever you end up doing, make sure the blades are covered to protect your fingers!

We moved to Madison about 6 weeks ago, and we adore this market! Beautiful midwest produce, fun baked goods and prepared foods, the best cheese anywhere, amazing honey and maple syrup. It does get crowded, though, so get there early!

I'd say, find some fun fabric and hand- or machine-sew a seam at the top and bottom. Thread a tension rod through the top seam and hang at the front of your media stand. Wires out of sight, covered storage, and a nice focal point!

I'm hoping someone out there can comment in better detail about this than I can, but as part of my job as a social worker, last year I spent time in two Head Start classrooms helping the teachers with classroom behavior management.

I observed mealtime on several occasions, and was pretty impressed with the way daily "lesson" was run. Meals are served "family style," and children are encouraged to serve themselves. If I remember correctly, there was usually milk, juice, an entree, and a fruit and/or veggie for lunch. I think they used disposable plates and flatware, but still, it was a step up from what I saw in the elementary school down the street (where most kids were on the free lunch program and therefore ate sad looking school lunches every day). At Head Start, teachers sat at the tables with the kiddos and encouraged them to use appropriate manners and clean up after themselves when finished. What would it be like to continue this type of mealtime lesson in elementary schools and up?
