The mauve/purple/pink is pretty bad. What about a linen white or cream and deep deep chocolate brown doors and bannisters?

Honestly, the rug is not that attractive and now it smells. Buy a new one.

Why are you hanging cardigans? Oh . . . I see others have advised you against that . . .

The living room does not work for me. I say "NOT" to the ceramic cheetahs and why does one need three zebra rugs in a tiny one-bedroom apt. The bedroom is cute, though.

I am a minimalist/modern kinda girl but . . . wow. I loved this tour. I probably won't become a collector of much but art and books, but loved her various collections and how she displayed them. Artful.

Love the house, but the furniture seems a bit tiny for such a great expanse of room -- especially that little dollsized coffee table so far away from any chair or couch . . .

It doesn't need to match, but I like it when pieces in a room at least "relate" to each other.

You know, the three and four dresser drawer aren't so full of squares that it is an obvious match . . . and you can disguise matchiness with accessories, such as lamps and art on the walls and so forth . . .

I guess I am the only one writing in who is not into "collections" of things everywhere. It is cute for sure, but a bit too filled with "hunted" items . . . Surprised that it won.

I have to totally agree with Michael C! But the fact that Dixie knows what she likes and could not care less about what others think (note her friends' comment about her style) makes me appreciate her style -- even if I could not stand to be in it or look at it for more than a few minutes. So i am not going to tell her how she could do it better, because she is doing what she wants and she loves it . . . and that is all that counts. How we design our lives and the places in which we live is a matter of individual taste. But the design democracy that has taken over our television sets (HGTV) and retail (DWR) is a bit boring . . . So I am I am glad there are people willing to live in a Pepto Bismol bottle because it means that there is diversity out there and diversity in design is critical.

So Michael -- I share your opinion about Dixie's taste, but I am glad she is willing to do her own thing.

The word is "tenets" as in the four tenets of giving a party are . . . (not Tenants).

I would put a large vase or other object from Jonathan Adler -- maybe the large tamarind vase.

I purchased a dining room table from DeLaEspada about three years ago. The table is oak. One evening, the table cracked. I called DeLaEspada on Greene Street and they replaced the table with no questions asked. I am not sure whether they have changed their policy since (maybe they have if cracking oak furniture is common). I just purchased the parallel bed in walnut. Does anyone know whether the same cracking/humidity issues occur with walnut furniture?
