Janelleb - I live in L.A. and would be interested. I have a 1948/1949 unrestored O'Keefe and Merritt sitting in my garage, but feel more comfortable buying one that works versus doing the restore myself. I'll be re-flooring the kitchen mid-2012 at which point I'd move drawers/cabinets to squeeze in a vintage stove. Is there a PM function or way to contact you?

Not me, buy my mom: She was on the waiting list for Sam Maloof to produce a table back in the mid-80s. When her name was finally called in late 80s she balked at the $7,000 (or so) price and passed. Maloof lived nearby and was already internationally recognized. Regardless of what it's worth now, those tables are stunning and would have been built by a true 20th Century woodworking master.

I use a Goodform rolling office chair, built in the mid-1950s. So I'd say it's vintage. It is quite comfortable and VERY sturdy. The arms just barely get in beneath the table which is nice. Sure, it's not as cozy as an Aeron, but I paid $50 and think it's a bit better looking.

Is that poured terrazzo? Looks awesome. Check out baggage claim at LAX, Hollywood Walk of Fame or entrance to international terminal at Logan Airport for some nice examples and proof of just how durability and eternally classic the stuff is. Oh, it's a "Green" product as well.

This place is fantastic, I love seeing these places fully restored to stock and not given the Chip Foose treatment.

And wow! - HERMAN STEIN! Creature is a great movie with a sweet score ... love how homage is paid with the movie artwork.

That "Panton" textile looks awfully like a Barbara Brown textile. Barbara Brown created some incredible designs for Heal's of London.

In an era of "pops of color" I dig how they just went with color! Great colors at that. Great light fixtures as well, well done!

The only thing I'm not fond of, and this is all the developer's doing, are the granite countertops, ss applainces & cherry wood cabinets. I get cognitive dissonance seeing all these great retro modern furnishings & fixtures ... then see a circa 2000s kitchen/bath ... and granite is so expensive and durable, it's pointless to even consider replacing it with formica, corian or something more consistent with 60s modernism.

All the better, as a prior commenter said, to overcoome the souless condo to make it a sweet space!

The red pillows! LOL. First glance I see butterflies, 2nd glance I see something quite different.

I was hoping to see those old cabinets and metal-trimmed laminate restored ... kind of like when you see a beat up rusty '55 Chevy pulled out of a barn ...

An air gun might cost about $35 and with a modest air compressor, all colors become possible. Just be sure to dilute the paint as latex or laqueur (if you can find it) tend to gum up air guns.

Easier than painting is replacing light fixtures and re-wiring them. Although most every upgrade is to replace overhead fixtures with recessed lights, one day, preferences will shift back to these beauties. The advantage here is the ability to swap out the fixtures, something you cannot do w/ recessed.

Hard to tell if all the shades are the same dimensions, but you might need to take another shade down to at least measure it [and most to bring to glass specialist]. I've found light fixture goodies on this site that I couldnt find elsewhere:

I'm diggin' the chrome bordered laminate kitchen countertop and backsplash. Too bad there wasn't a detail shot of it. I can't fathom how so many homeowners buy homes like that, tear out the chrome/laminate and stick in totally out-of-context granite.

Anyhow, rad place.

So if McMansion residents start consuming MCM en masse, would it be called McCentury Modern? Manufacturers would have to devise new pieces such as "The Double Womb Chair" or an Eames rocker with built-in remote control for TV, Blu-Ray and all gaming consoles.

Since Silverlake/Echo Park/Highland Park are considered to be "hipster neighborhoods" - I came across that website. Looks like Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square and Pilsen all have potential.
