my guess is that most of these negative comments are coming from people who are not artists or live with artists. the stacks of furniture and other things look like they are ready to be used for an installation. and one photograph actually shows (notice the measuring tape on the floor) an installation work in progress. the whole idea behind collecting so many things and being an artist is most likely because it is all part and parcel to visual culture. interior design is of course included in that, so i am surprised to find that people are making such ridiculous comments, given the overabundance of modernist furniture, graphic arts, and design that are splattered all over this site--art and objects that were created by artists. had many of you seen Picasso's home you would have probably died from a hive attack. Frida Kahlo's studio and home were not much different, and wouldnt you know it, her collection of art, objects, photographs, dishes, pets, and so on were all incorporated into her work. what a thought. garlic, red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lime, diced tomatoes, avocados, salt, and get ready for this, low fat plain yogurt. the yogurt (never more than two tablespoons) adds a rich creamy taste that is delicious. my aunts in Nuevo Leon (northern Mexico) use crema Mexicana in their guacamole and it is to die for. i use yogurt so as not to give in too much to my natural born Latina inclination towards everything that is a heart-attack waiting to happen. wonderful paintings, quite campy and at the same time what a draftsman (or should i say draftswoman) you are! i love seeing the homes of people who collect! some times posts on AT can seem too overly stylized and to be honest a bit forced. what a refreshing thing to see the walls covered in art, with no corner left unturned. beautiful space, love the subtle details. the Spanish tradition that you refer to however (when explaining the changes you made to your balcony) actually comes from Islamic architecture and in Spain, dates back to the time of Moorish rule. From the same tradition that inspired the Spanish use of a central courtyard in homes. Mike's Roscoe Village Expansion House Tour |
