My living room is 24 X 11, but the problem is the four doorways plus stairway, PLUS four windows (3 in 1 plus another). There is no way space. Two doors are openings to other rooms, (a set a french doors and an opening that is 3x's a normal doorway).. we can only barely fit two bookcases in a corner. The t.v. is in another corner. There is no coffee table because it would break the flow to all the other rooms. I'm not complaining about the openness and light, but there is no focal point. I've thought about a fake fireplace, but our 1931 floors are so uneven it would take a lot of work for it to sit strait. And this is the only room for the dog crate : )

I have a large framed original that covers a whole wall in the kitchen. I wipe any spills off the plexi easily, but since it is not near prep space it only needs regular dusting. I get to enjoy a bold bit of art in a space I spend loads of time in= happy!

Yes.
Our old 1930s house has horsehair plater walls with wallpaper on top in many of the rooms. I did peel off the worst of it in the dining room, but painted over the rest. It is adhered like the top layer of drywall paper.
Not perfect, but looks great. We do have many bookcases covering the walls too.
Also we have an added sun room that has fiberboard walls, not plaster. I tried to peel wallpaper in that room and just gouged holes when the paper never ended.
That room got fresh wall paper then paint when I was ready for a change.
The ceilings are painted hi-gloss so everyone notices them, not the walls : )

We have books in every room of the house and on the stairs and on the porch. I like the wall rails the best, great idea! To bad it wouldn't work for books...

Thanks for the compliments. It really is a hard working studio. It is better for me to keep everything out in the open so I don't loose sight of anything.. out of sight, out of mind.

MissS, the rug was a complete stumble-upon. It was picked up at a sample sale at Home Depot two years ago for $10. It warms up the floor in the winter and fits that spaces perfectly. Our dog loves it too : )
