I am a former Torontonian living in SF and had never seen a "white" peach until moving here. IMO, the white peaches are awful just like white corn and refuse to buy them. The only peach is a ripe (not hard) yellow peach! I still think the best peaches are grown between the niagara eascarpment and Lake Ontairo. California peaches do not compare to the niagara peaches. Plus, peaches are sold in a basket in Ontario - usually $4.99/basket. I remember the baskets cost the same amount 20 yrs ago!
I have been know to cart a basket of peaches from my mum's place in southwest Ontario to share with my inlaws in Quebec. The Quebec stores sell the peaches but they are picked early in order to survive the road trip and are not as fresh as the ones in ontario.

I do not agree with Rpoole11 about buying appliances. I just bought a high end oven and ventilation hood from two different internet sites and had real positive experiences.
I bought a discontinued oven at half price from Drimmers and trucked to California. The oven arrived in pristine condition except for a lot of dust since it was siting in a warehouse for a few years. The shipping cost $35 curbside - what a deal. It was a real great workout moving the 160 lb oven into my apartment!
I bought the hood from US appliances in michigan and it also arrived in great condition free shipping.
When the appliances arrived I had to examine the packaging to make sure they were in great condition. If there was anything wrong, package wise I was to refuse the shipment. The seller let me know about this before the shipment arrived. And I was able to schedule the delivery on a holiday monday and saturday so it was less inconvient then waiting for the cable guy. IMO, drimmers really helped us by holding two different ovens until we could sort out the power requirements.
You do need to complete your research before buying.

I had seen both items at a Miele design center a few years ago. The Miele design center does not sell products so they do give out good information and are happy to test out situations for you. We were able to "burn cheese" at the center one saturday in order to test the hood.
Just before buying the appliances, I spent about an hour over several days discussing the oven with the Miele reps to make sure it was right for us and check whether our current pans would fit in it. We got a full warrenty from Miele and I would be upset if the local service rep does what Rpoole11 is implying above.
Can't wait to install the new appliance until then they are sitting in my bedroom with our new Miele dishwasher! Lot's of jokes about our "german kitchen"...

the water sense website but does not measure the performance of low flow toilets. Many low flow toilets do not flush well. A great resource on toilet flushing is the MaP (maximum performance test). Here is a link to the report:

We bought a dual flush toilet that was rated at 600 and have been very satisfied.

I would love to use this product. From all of my research, I understand this product will shrink if it is not installed in a climate controlled (a/c) environment. Has anyone installed this product? Any trouble with it shrinking?

I live in the Hamilton and feel a bit of "inside the building" perspective maybe helpful to the AT community. I do not like to write negative comments about a person and I hope all of you do not take these comments poorly. When you live in a place that is profiled and see a one-sided article you feel obligated to respond.

The lobby renovation looks really good and helps to sell the building to people not interested in living on the edge of a difficult neighborhood. I really like the building and there is a great bunch of people living there.

(I think the article is inaccurate as the lobby renovation was completed before I started looking at this building in 2000. This shows me that the reported did not do his homework)

I do not think Pat would be a great person to show case on AT. This is how he operated: He comes up with a plan for changing something in the building and then talks to one person about it. If the person is not receptive to Pat's idea of "deco-izing" the space, Pat will ignore that person and move on to another person. This will keep occurring until he finds people who agree with him. If you do not agree with him, he badmouths you to others....

There are many other great people in the Hamilton that have renovated their space and might be better candidates for a home tour.

Anyways, Pat worked hard to create his "vision" of an art deco hotel. All the renovations are interpretations and mostly not historically accurate. For example the chandeliers he designed are very loosely based on the original lobby lights, but his design is more gothic than art deco. Based on all the work Pat has done that is not historically accurate this building will never qualify for any historic registry.

Recently Pat has decided black and white tile represents art deco to him and puts this pattern everywhere. Did the non-historical almost non-functional laundry room really need black and white tile? (deco-izing occurs again!) The building is been turned into a Disney art deco reject.

The article did not go deep into the funding of the numerous renovations. This is an old building that needs some maintenance. Pat controls the HOA board and has pushed through his aesthetic upgrades while the building's waterproofing was leaking and some unit have poor ventilation or occasionally no hot water. Some of these issues are now being fixed because the residents became vocal.

The building needs maintenance and money is tight. Many of the residents are retired or first time homebuyers with tight budgets. Pat does not consider these people when proposing his deco-izing projects. He expects everyone to pay for "his projects" and not criticize any of these projects. The building is turning into an art deco mausoleum under his direction.

Before selecting a very cheap material consider this:
vinyl is very harmful to the environment during its creation, it off-gases during its lifetime and can not be recycled.
Armstrong is a large company that is working to eliminate vinyl and other harmful chemicals from there products. So the tile you are looking at may not be made up of vinyl and a little research may clear this up.
But if the product is composed of vinyl you may want to look at other more sustainable products on the market. Please consider the environmental aspects of the product before selecting it based on it first cost.
The movie "Blue Vinyl" discusses the environmental aspects of the vinyl if you are interested.
