There was an episode of "Are You Afraid of the Dark" when I was around 9ish about these kids finding out that they were living next to vampires. So my bright idea when going to sleep for about 6 months was to wear a scarf around my neck and the covers up, because everyone knows that vampires aren't smart enough to just move the scarf before they bite you. I also slept with my head to the bottom of the bed so I would get extra time if they did attempt to get me, even though the scarf was protecting me. To this day, I still sleep with my head and shoulders extra extra covered all the way with about 6-10 inches of my feet and legs sticking out. The one past boyfriend that I told my reasoning to told me I was a piece of work, so until now, nobody else has heard about my crazy.
