I am originally from Chicago, where grocery stores are allowed to sell beer, liquor, and wine in the store. There are still plenty of liquor stores because they figured out that by offering a better, more specialized selection and good service, they could still be successful.

Perhaps this move would force liquor stores to stay open later. It drives me crazy that in New York, I can't buy liquor or wine near my house after eight pm.

Erin in CR: I understand your point, but the vast majority of liquor stores here do not have a particularly knowledgeable or helpful staff. That depends on the store and the quality of wine one is searching for; liquor and wine shops that cater to this will continue to exist.

It is hardly a spoiler. I don't understand why people complain about spoilers weeks after a new episode has aired. I understand one or two days later, but that episode aired over a week ago. Get over it.

just so you know, commerce bank has one of those coin counting machines, and lets people use them for free. you get to keep all your money without those stupid coinstar charges and you get to go to commerce bank, where you can get pens and candy!

i love to make a mango salad of diced mango, fresh mint, and lemon juice. that's it. super simple and delicious!

that and mango sliced up and covered in lime juice and chile powder.

I'd use the dutch oven to make a rustic apple tart. I made one last night, but I'm pretty sure it would have turned out far better if I had a dutch oven.

I always wanted to find a way to plug the hole for the cord to turn it into a fishbowl. a fish in a lamp! it would be rad.

I don't want to sound like a jerk (and I'm saying this as a person who was a strict vegetarian for 4 years), but I think it's ridiculous for vegetarians to expect their hosts to cater to their own self-imposed dining restrictions. It's different when the host is nice to enough to consider things like that ahead of time for their guests, but I always assumed that I would be unable to eat most of the options at a party where food would be available unless the hosts were also vegetarians.

Am I the only one? Isn't it good form that if you have your own food restrictions, whether self-imposed or physical (i.e. allergies), that you bring your own food or just eat before?

I just find the idea of demanding that someone, who is nice enough to invite you to their home, caters to your own needs, regardless of the extra time, expense, or hassle it will cause, really rather rude.

ooh me please. I have this really heavy metal pepper grinder that I seem to keep dropping on my foot, leaving a lovely giant bruise. I'd be psyched if I dropped the Peugeot on my foot!
