Elimination Communication is the greenest way- I started with my son at 6 weeks old, and it cut down big-time in our diaper usage with cloth and disposables (I only used one a day when taking him out). Also, it was brilliant to just pee him in the toilet when out in public and not have to use a diaper change table. EC cuts down not just on diapers but baby wipes as well- toilet paper worked just fine and it was very satisfying when he would poo in the toilet and make no mess. In his first year, we spent $500 total on disposables and organic adjustable pocket diapers.
