So advanced and modern, a teen boy is shown doing dishes in a 50's ad! Truly a worthy product. ;)

Other than the decals outside of the kid's room, and the loads of barbies (but that's personal), and the living room picture hanging too high, I don't think this apartment is as bad as people are making it. I agree that the living room could use a coffee table in the middle to break up the "against the wall" alignment, but otherwise, they have some fun things and neat vintage items. I love the grey paint and ceiling fixture!

Well this is much past the fact of this post, but I feel like Kate moved into my previous apt.! :D So I'll give my 2 cents.

I had the exact same apartment situation in Prospect Heights Brooklyn. I couldn't put an AC in the window because there were bars there. However, I managed to prop up a very shallow small AC unit on a table against the window with the drip area sticking just enough out the window. I was on the street level. I also considered a portable AC but they were expensive!

I was a bit annoyed because this apartment had fixed bars on ALL the windows and what if I were trapped in a fire? I mentioned this to the landlady and she said well, there are 2 exits outside the apt. door. Yeah great, so long as I get out that one door. I don't know.. feels like there would be legal reasons against this.

Suffice it to say, I moved out after 2 yrs. Lovely apartment in renovation, but I will never live on a ground floor apartment again (no light and curtains always drawn). I decided to pay towards my own mortgage rather than pay hers.

Funny enough, after I moved out, she contacted me to see what AC i used for the apt. because the new tenant (I'm guessing) had encountered the same problem.

I saw this a few days back on a web site. It really disgusts me. What a waste, no matter what "eco" planning they did to cool down the building. Apparently, they don't believe they need to do any "good" karma from the fortunate position they are in to have made real differences in their own backyard.

Why do I have the impression he just stepped into lilliput-ville? The feet look awfully scrunched up under that teensy coffee table.

A nice big block of colorful, geometric, spanish tile behind it would be beautiful! I'd go with a neutral stone colored base.

I used to use an electric for years on the recommendation of my dentist and, I'd suppose the trend. However, the last 6 months, I switched back to manual. I find I'm more attentive to brushing with a manual. I get lazy with the electric and don't allow it to brush long enough. Plus, I like the larger surface area of bristles on a manual. And a manual is a lot cheaper than continuing to buy those refill tips!

The light is a Cellula. You can find it at DWR. I'ts pretty pricey.. get it from another seller. I love that light and have dreamed of one day owning one myself!

cable railing just sounds dangerous to me for a rambunctious 2-yr old... i just imagine hands, feets, arms, etc, getting caught in between. not to mention, possible accidental slipping of the body between cables and choking. sorry, makes me nervous.

They really should use green potsl. They look funny floating mid-terrace.

Interesting idea, but looks rather jungle-like. A few neatly placed terra cotta pots with nicely trimmed plants, would make it look fantastic. A simple hierarchy of tall to short on either side (or both sides) of the terrace would do. If they really want a fence-type planting, finish the middle with a neat row of planters.

I think a Cellula chandelier would look awesome there. But they are going to run you a couple thousand. I'm trying to get one myself. Or a knock off (must they be swarovski??).

Bummer won't work. I need a hardwire pendant to cover the round hole in the ceiling.

Oh, those other Le Klint pendant lamps are nice shapes too. and not a bad price. Still.. is 100 watts enough in such an enclosed pendant? I'm all for ambiance, but I also need to see if I work on the table!

Is the Le Klint lamp really enough light? I'm asking because I love the look but worry about it being enough for the dark end of my longish apartment, over the dining table. Anyone?
